Obama, Jack McCain Embrace At US Naval Academy Graduation (SLIDESHOW, VIDEO)

President Obama promised members of the graduating class at the US Naval Academy Friday that they would never have to fight an unnecessary war. "I will only send you into harm's way when it is absolutely necessary, and with the strategy, the well-defined goals, the equipment and the support that you need to get the job done," said the Commander-in-Chief.

One member of the President's audience was Senator John McCain. McCain and his family were at the event to see their oldest son Jack graduate. Jack and Obama shared a moment on stage while Mrs. McCain cheered her son on after he received his diploma.

i know that his hands were tired as hell but it was really worth seeing young naval officers getting their diplomas..most of them were happy to see him as well taking pictures of president obama.

Most people have enough sense to realize that a camera captures A MOMENT in time, and that singular instant can be interpreted in as silly a manner as the person who's doing the interpreting. A bit of logic, however, might lead one to deduce that the President was saying something of a congratulatory nature and the camera captured his lips in motion.

It's because he looks people directly in the eye. We associate this as being very intimate, thus imagine it leading to a kiss. I think it's because most people only look people in the eye for sexual or romantic reasons. In fact, it's just very rare that we see somebody really look someone in the eye as a sign of attentiveness and respect, which is what it is when Obama does it. I think it's great that we have a president who looks every person he talks to or shakes hands with in the eye.

Media attention for the rich elite. How nice. When's the media going to stop splashing the people we don't care about and talk of the other heros? Since we don't have kings and queens the upper class gets all this unwarranted attention. Half the population is saying enough of this and give us real news.

Actually, most of the people graduating from Annapolis and West Point and the Air Force Academy are not upper class. And this particular point was not about upper class (though granted both of them were...) it was about politics!

Disgusting. Maybe McCain's son won't crash as many military planes as his father. It won't matter though, they will keep him in the Military because the rules do not apply to the privileged class. The rules are made simply to control the masses.

It is incumbent on Jack to make his own grave - politically - when the time comes. In the meantime, it was CLASSY of Obama to congratulate the son of his rival. As far as all of us know, Jack made his way on his own and not because of his political ties.

Unless of course, that's false.

And if Jack made his way only because of who his father is, when Jack runs for office, all of it will be spilled out for voters to see. After all, all of what Jack's father did was spilled out for all of US voters to see. And we discovered that John McCain was a total fake because of it.

I attended the Air Force Academy and I thank God that we have a President that will not be reckless about sending our service members into harms way. That said our enemies need to know we will be single minded when they confront us. God speed Jack.

Actually, the fact that Jack puts his hand on Obama's arm is a gesture of warmth and intimacy that surprised me, even if the embrace is quick. Also, the expression on his face looks like he really admires him. I was surprised.
