Politico:

When Tom Coburn wanted to pitch his criticism of the Democrats' health care plan last month, the senator's office considered sympathetic media outlets like The Wall Street Journal and the conservative blog RedState.

Instead, the Oklahoma Republican went with The Huffington Post.

To quote that gem of political wisdom, "Fast Times At Ridgemont High", I suggest they get the flock out of here.

Run it up the flag pole here. If the response is negative it must be a very good idea....

Interestngly, if a liberal/progressive wants to post opposing views on many rightwingr websites, they are censored.

Yawn. We see them here every day, spouting their palaver.

I think having the conservative/republican posters on this blog is incredibly important.
Because of their posts, I have found it necessary to fact-check their points, which in turn educates me to a higher degree.
Thanks to the misinformation some of these posters have spread, I have acquired facts that I otherwise may not know.

I would rather have a "thin skinned" president than a "thick skinned dum repuglican" any day. They can say what they want up here but they sure as heck better be ready to be told a thing or two also. We don't take there crap lightly. And they better make sense with what they say instead of throwing inconsequential digs.

I wouldn't be too concerned about the "thin-skinned" report. It was a closed meeting, and you have to consider the messenger, and what was actually said to the President. You know from this site how disrespectful and over the top the right wing can be. You can bet that they went in there with the intention of being disrespectful, and putting the President "in his place."

Then they walk out of a closed meeting and say he's "thin-skinned". I don't believe it. I've seen Pres. Obama in dozens of interviews (maybe hundreds by now), and I can count on one hand the number of times he seemed uncomfortable or irritated. And those moments were when the questioner was being deliberately provocative or disrespectful. When you consider the right wing policy agenda and their redundant talking points, which Pres. Obama is having none of, you can imagine the atmosphere in the room.

You had your meeting with the opposition, Pres. Obama, now pull a "George Bush" on them, and refuse to meet with them again any time in he foreseeable future. They came out of the meeting, and, characteristically, called you names. They are not serious about wanting a dialogue. But I guess you know that already.

I think I missed the thin-skinned report.

Was it written by Johnathan Martim, Chuck Todd, Jake Tapper or any of that bunch?

Arianna's tent has always been big enough for a variety of views.

Now that this site has become the most popular, I'd like to suggest that Arianna consider adopting the "system" used by the New York Times that allows posters to "add support" to a posting made by a contributor, keeping track of the cumulative total of reader support.

Such a refinement would take her blog to the next level of allowing her many contributors to gauge the contributions of those adding their thoughts and ideas. In the process, this growing divergence of views could add value and substance to the quality of public discourse.

In this day and time, not to many people can afford to pay for commenting or reading articles.

You wouldn't pay......you would simply select an icon under each posting that allows you cast a vote if you agreed with posting.

Check out the written comments to any of the major NYT columnists.

And if a post is not profane, how about limiting the censorship so the views are not so "manipulated"?

The only AH needs to do is get rid of the undereducated censors and try to filter out some of the garbage.

If Republicans are allowed to write op-ed columns on Huffingtonpost, I'm sure they'll be worthless drivel filled with shrill tones and all of the articles will be writting like this:

OBAMA IS A SOCIALIST!!! HELP OUR COUNTRY RETURN BACK TO ITS GOP WAYS!! HE'S NOT A REAL AMERICAN!!

LOL...you guys know I'm telling the truth.

There is a word for folks who marginalize someone because of their race...bigotry. There is a word for folks who marginalize someone because of their gender...sexism
We need a special word for those folks who marginalize someone because of their political beliefs.
The sentiment expressed in this and many other posts on this site has the same characteristics as all of the other bad things that we humans concoct to use against each other. Go to conservative websites, and you find the exact same thing, except in the opposite direction.

I am a Republican, and I do read the Huffington Post every day, and I really enjoy it. I do it because I enjoy seeing what other people who don't necessarily agree with me have to say. I learn a lot, change my opinion some, and yet at other times, it helps me to solidify what I believe.

When I see someone use the word "rethug", or "repug", I usually ignore the comment, just like I wouldn't listen to anything someone had to say on race relations in America if they used some racial slur constantly.

The "flockers" arrival almost as an organized army of choir singers has been evident for some time now. Most add nothing to what has been a great place to exchange ideas and share opinions.

Now we're cluttered with twitter-like comments that offer very little to the public discourse. Too bad.

Yeah, I was not only censored but banned by the site, RedState after my first post on the fable that is Reagan. I consider it a badge of honor and them a bunch of intellectual weaklings marinating in fear.
