Rapper M.I.A. often wore t-shirts that supported the Tigers. I wonder what she thinks about this?

I looked it up on IMDB, she obviously supported her people, and thought their displacement and deaths in the war were a tragedy.

Pretty vanilla stuff for anyone who is native to a nation at war.

Im sure if they asked her she would say "I hope peace will come, and Sri Lanka will try extra hard to lift the Tamil up and help them rebuild together."

Which in all reality, is all they can do. Thank god that guy is dead, when a government survives only on the the violence it creates, it is a vicious cycle with no end (ie Israel/Palstine)

M.I.A is to terrorism, what Liz Cheney is to torture. Unashamedly-biased, deliberately-misleading and/or preaching to the choir, apologists to crimes-against-humanity!

“Explaining Terrorism, Again”

“Fallacy#1:“Root Causes”
This is the idea that terrorism is inevitably the result of poverty or injustice, and that somehow, if we recognize this and work to resolve them, then the terrorist will cease to attack us.

Fallacy#2:PoliticalSolutions
The notion that there is a political solution to any single terrorist group is perhaps one of the most expensive and time-wasting errors we make. This mistake is particularly compounded when diplomats and advisors fail to differentiate between the effects of the passage of time and political ‘progress’ in ending a particular conflict.

Fallacy#3:Cause&Effect
A terrorist is seldom being truthful when he says he attacked target ‘X’ because of provocation ‘Y’. The terrorist is already predisposed to attack for emotional and psychological reasons, if one target isn’t selected for one reason or another, then some other target will be singled out. There is much more to launching a terrorist attack than, for example, setting off a series of bombs on a Madrid railway station because Spain had troops in Iraq. The larger motive to attack Spain already existed; the ideology that the terrorists embraced gave them a further motive; the means were within their reach; and the majority of plotters already lived in Spain.”

If they need a new leader, I'll gladly volunteer to help an oppressed people overcome a largely handpicked dictator. The current Sri Lankan President has already been scolded by the international community for engaging in state sponsored terrorism as well as using a terrorist group on the international list of terror organizations as an extension of the armed forces with which to carry out ethnic cleansing and act as right wing deathsquads/enforcers for the government.

I think the Tigers should keep on fighting. The current Sri Lankan President vowed to never negotiate nor even talk to the Tigers, considering the Tamil question to be a treasonous thing to even consider. So if you surrender and try to negotiate, he'll simply execute you on the spot. This coming from a man, this current President who has skimmed more than $1 million USD off of the tsunami aid that the international community had been sending.

Westerners always want to meddle with affairs of other countries leading to these countries' destruction. Just look at africa. Looting, meddling and acting like a moral police.

"I think the Tigers should keep on fighting." - Spoken like a true rear echelon warrior - please let the rest of us know when you will be putting on your gear and going to Sri Lanka to fight on. Don't you think that the poor island and its people have had enough blood shedding for a while? Talking might seem a bit tame to some of you more experienced warriors but it might be a welcome change for the people of Sri Lanka.

Alrighty then O righteous Palemoon,
1st order of business: Find some high caste Tamil elites and moderate, sane, peaceful Tamil folk and “liberate” them. Then move on to “cleansing” the rest of Sri Lanka, not forgetting to “free” a mayor or two in Jaffna and the odd democratically elected world leader as well. http://www.mackenzieinstitute.com/2009/tamil-tigers-040609.htm

Lucky for you life is going to be ease because you’ll be following a tried and tested playbook --- Good luck and Hanumans Speed!
“In 1998, a pair of sources in the Tamil Community told one of the authors about
“Camilla”, a madam for a Tamil hooker ring in Toronto. The story was that most of the
clientele were Tamils, but the thinking about Camilla’s organization was that a man who
could afford a few hundred bucks for an hour or two of pleasure could also then be
fingered as someone who could afford to increase his donations to the Tigers’ cause.
The story was impossible to confirm for several reasons, but Camilla does still advertise
in the ‘Adult Personal’ section of Now Magazine.”

This is the time for both sides to put aside their weapons and offer each other an olive branch with the outmost sincere intent for peace.

If they want sympathy for their cause, ending the silly propaganda games would be a good start.

Now will the International Tamil's give up as well???

They are really becoming pests here in Toronto. I'm all for the right to protest but when you pile onto the highway and block traffic for hours then I get pissed.

Thanks for your post.
They are pests. I always believe that if they are really feeling that strong about whatever they are believe in. They should go back to their home country and fight. May there be death or blood, but real fight and make a real difference with your own hands.
Blocking highways and downtown in Canada. Sure it is a SAFE way to protest, not even dare to protest in the US, but "around" the US embassy in Canada. What a joke! They are selfish and barbaric. Honestly, I think they are a bunch of cowards.

Okay so lets turn the tables. Lets say you've established a home, a family and a career in Canada or the US, and your people are being slaughtered in your home country. What would you realistically do? Would you leave your family behind so you could be a soldier in the resistance? Is it true that the only way to make a difference is to be a soldier? Are those the only people who've made a difference in history?

I understand that the protests are a nuisance for you...tough luck buddy...any protest that you disagree with is inherently a nuisance. That's the cost of free speech. Perhaps if you don't like free speech, you should take your own advice and move back to Sri Lanka. The government does a great job of silencing it there.

I am sure watching their families be ethnically cleansed is an inconvenience to them too. So sorry you were late to the hockey game but you need to get priorities straight.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:31 AM on 05/25/2009

how about you or your loved one rushing to hospital in a car in the middle of the road?! people got things to do besides hockey game. They didn't just block road, they go on highway every other day. And frankly, they achieved nothing by doing that.

for those who think that I would just sit here in Canada and watch my relatives getting killed? Well, I can certainly tell you that if I am in that position, I WOULD NOT be in Canada's main street. I would be home and fighting along with them. I mean why not? If the cause is right, if it calls for action, then why not? Just because you are all about compassion but also realistic, does not mean other people also live in their shells then only voice out when it is safe.

You got free speech and freedom today because someone made sacrifice long time ago. If those would choose some realistic way and protest only when it is safe, you and I would not enjoy the privilege today.

About time. They denied it on 18th and then said he was "alive and well" and "will return at the appropriate time" on the 22nd. What a difference 48 hours makes!
