Un-Broke: The Seth Green Cribs Edition (VIDEO)

On Friday, May 29th at 9pm ET, ABC is airing a special called "UN-BROKE: What You Need to Know About Money," featuring finance expert Mellody Hobson.

ABC describes the program as "an unconventional look at the fundamentals of everyday finance with all the facts about credit cards, mortgages, stocks and bonds, investing and 401(k)'s, in a fresh new format combining information and humor."

The following clip features Seth Green showing you around his "crib" MTV style. Other celebs who appear in the special: Will Smith, Samuel L. Jackson, the Jonas Brothers, Christian Slater, Cedric the Entertainer, Sesame Workshop's Oscar the Grouch, and Rosario Dawson.

Mildly amusing, but the sad thing is - many people can't even manage similarly modest digs with today's low salaries, layoffs, high costs, healthcare issues, etc. Extravagance is not the reason for hard times for most folks.

Anything that shows the aburdity of the rap scene is a good start.

As with metal bands in the late 1980's, most rap groups look the same, sound the same and talk the same. In other words, LAME.

Rap has become as tired as hair metal.

Funny clip, but important and groundbreaking after the recent past decades. If you were a child in the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, it was probably very easy to get caught up in the greed because all you've been hearing from your parents, friends and TV advertisers is money, money, money and you're nothing unless you have it. More important than having money was showing that you had money and buying things you couldn't afford just to show it off and create the illusion that you had more than you had. The trend of designer names being magnified and airbrushed on the front of t-shirts and sweatshirts is something that got started more than 25 years ago. Prior to that, you never saw "Gucci" in big obnoxious letters on clothes because it was bad taste. Something wealthy people would not actually wear.

The "Cribs" show is entertaining sometimes but you have to ask yourself, what is the point? To show us common folks what we could have if we worked hard enough? To make another generation of kids believe that money is everything?

Seth Green is brilliant. He gets the joke and isn't afraid to be the joke. It's about time someone took the obnoxious platform the is 'Cribs' and took it down a few notches. watch it again and LISTEN TO THE MESSAGE. You might just be able to save some dosh of your own. Maybe then you could afford some "'hose' of yo own".
