Brooke Shields: I Lost My Virginity At 22

Buried in a Q&A with Health magazine, Brooke Shields let slip how old she was when she lost her virginity - 22 - and her regrets over it.
Q: What's your biggest health regret?

A: Not learning to love the way I looked earlier. And I think I would have had sex a lot earlier! [Laughs.] I think I would have lost my virginity earlier than I did at 22. I had the public and all this pressure, and I wish I had just gotten it over with in the beginning when it was sort of OK. I think I would have been much more in touch with myself. I think I wouldn't have had issues with weight--I carried this protective 20 pounds [in college]. It was all connected. And to me, that's a health regret.

Shields is twice married with two young daughters.

What is so wrong with her losing a virginity at 22 yrs old. I would be proud of that. I was raised catholic and had a very strick father. I would never put myself in a position to be alone with a man so he could try something I wasn't ready for. I was 29 yrs old when I lost my virginity. I don't feel I was ever at a lose that I hadn't done it earlier when I was younger. I think if your a virgin be proud and don't let anyone put pressure on you if your not ready. Now that is just me, I realize people will think there is something wrong with me. But I have been happily married to the same man for 30 yrs. So we must be doing something right. I will teach my grandchild the same thing. There is more to married life than just sex.

I grew up at the same time as Brooke and in the next town over (in northern NJ.) I remember being jealous of her. Not only was she this famous star, but she had special SAT coaching and got into Princeton. I assumed she was super confident sexually and lead a charmed life.

Of course, I think, she did have a great life, But it goes to show you that everyone has something that bothers them.

I still can't believe that I lost mine earlier than Brooke. (I was such a nerd.)

I can tell you this rini. Looking into some else's backyard might look pretty good with all the nice furniture. I found out early that all things that look good aren't necessarily what it seems. I had a close girlfriend and I loved being around her family because they did lots of things together. I came from a lower middle class background and didn't have the pretty things. But my girlfriends grandma took me aside and set me straight. After that I realized that I had a lot more than my girlfriend had. It was a love of family. When my dad died people including children in their baseball uniforms came to the funeral. Now that was love. Yes, not all things that gilter are so great after all.

Sounds like she's admitting that she lost her virginity to Dean Cain, her boyfriend at Princeton.

Only goes to show that even a gorgeous woman like Brooke, who was famous as a sexy young nymphette, can suffer from insecurity.
