Alaska Gets Stimulus Windfall Despite Palin's Opposition

Anchorage Daily News:

Gov. Sarah Palin may have turned down $28.6 million in federal stimulus money for weatherization and renewable energy projects, but the state will still do very well when it comes to the Recovery Act.

An estimated $1.3 to $1.5 billion is coming Alaska's way -- with some of it already on the street and in some cases, already spent.

I don't know much about Alaska except for being there one time and stayed at the Captain Cook Hotel in Anchorage and tried to see what the action was on Northern Lights Blvd. Are the academics good and is it a basically smart place? I once talked to a bar piano player who worked a club in Alaska and told me in the 70's that the people there did a lot of reading as the weather created a lot of indoor living. If the people do read a lot how did they elect Palin? Wasn't enough known about her and wouldn't this had been written about her credentials ? For example, how she increased debt in Wasilla as mayor by failing to secure right of way to the road to get to the facility. I understand this cost millions that could have been averted had she done her job. With that said, what could she have said that convinced people that she was smart and knew how to get things done? Perplexing.

I agree with you. I am apalled that there were Alaskans who were only eating one meal a day, and were freezing this past winter. It's time for this fraud to be recalled or impeached.

The people in the rural villages in Alaska seems to have made it through the winter without starving. Unfortunately the help they needed didn't come from the government. The help came from bloggers all over our country thanks to http://www.themudflats.net/ and other related blogs on the internet.

Sarah Palin did bake them cookies and she toured some affected villages with her two pastor sidekicks, but other than that, she showed a remarkable lack of empathy or caring for the people in her state who were so hard hit.

Governor Palin knows that global warming is right around the corner and there is no need for winterization in Alaska in a couple of years, it will be warm year round. She's just saving the taxpayers dollars. :-)

That's what i was thinking. By 2012 she'll assume we'll forget or that we're as stoopid as she is, and pretend that she also too wanted or asked for the stim funds. Bet there's a chapter in her storybook that tells how she scored the stim funds and saved her state. Shameful.
