I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Keith Olbermann interviewed conservative radio host Erich "Mancow" Muller tonigh about his experience being waterboarded. Mancow said he agreed to be interviewed because Olbermann is a "stand up guy" for agreeing to donate $10,000 to a charity benefiting veterans (an offer previously extended to Sean Hannity) after Mancow was waterboarded.

Mancow reaffirmed that the practice was indeed torture and said that his "psychological state" going into the experiment was that he was "laughing at it. I was willing to prove, and ready to prove, that this was a joke, and I was wrong. It was horrific. It was instantaneous. And look, I felt the effects for two days."

Mancow also revealed that his friend Sean Hannity "called me and said 'it's still not torture.'"

Do you think, I'm just asking, do you think that if a detainee, oh, I don't know, had DIED while getting waterboarded that we would know about it?

Some "hate america" person - like a soldier? It's your position that if we did something illegal and someone died, only an unpatriotic nut bag would complain about it? Some soldiers when faced with torturing committed suicide rather than participate or report it. There does that make you feel better?

Over 100 detainees at Guantanamo, Bagrahm and Abu Grahib have died, by the military's own admission. If you don't know about that, you're not paying attention.

We are going to find out such bad things soon... you have no idea... the things they have done to those people will come out and it'll be worse than we ever imagined.

The only mystery to me is how anybody would publicly admit to being friends with Sean Hannity--I just don't get that.

I saw the interview and I want to thank Mancow for speaking the truth!

I hope the others in the GOP don't catch on to this truth-telling thing!

Agreed. I've not been a fan of his, but lesser men would have attempted to somehow play it off.
Thank you Mancow for helping to illuminate this terrible practice for what it is.

All conservatives should be waterboarded, each day, every day.

They need it, badly.

(And they secretly LIKE IT).

Probably the first thing Mancow has ever done or said that I've had any respect for. Maybe the guy is starting to come to his senses a little bit.

Hannity wouldn't be honest about it like Mancow. No point to it. I'm sure he wouldn't last as long either.

Is it me, or did it seem to any of you that Mancow had this idea that Keith was gonna do this back and forth shouting match with him. I'm askin' 'cause part of this interview seemed that it was headed down that road.

No it's not just you. I expected Keith to keep it classy and on topic but got the feeling Mancow was expecting a throw-down.
Nevertheless, even though I've never been able to stomach Mancow and the off the wall remarks that come out of his mouth, my hat is off to him on this one.

i thought that too ... but after watching it a second time, i think he kinda started to go that way, but he didn't ... both did well ... if KO had been waterboarded and had this response, the proponents of waterboarding would have dismissed it out of hand ... and they're dismissing mancow, too, but at least some of his followers are starting to believe that waterboarding is torture

OK so now that we have proven that waterboarding "works" and that it's not "illegal" because as we all know the US does not torture - Why aren't we using these methods in all police stations to interogate suspects?

Can you imagine the money and time we could save? We could cut the police detective squads in less than half. A couple of ex-marine gorillas (no offence intended) could manhandle all suspects and the entire confession would be done in a few minutes rather than hours or days.

Word would get out on the street that the police have NEW methods of getting the truth and in a matter of a few weeks we could cut the crime rate in half ... because nobody want's to get "questioned". Why stop there ... let's cut down on "white-collar" crime while we're at it. If these methods had been legal 10 years ago ... Enron would be still be here today as a thriving on-the-level honest firm.

What are we waiting for?

It's NOT illegal! It's NOT torture! It's simply "enhanced interrogation".

LET'S DO IT!!!

Shoplifters, office-supply thieves & tax-cheaters be ware ... you're next.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:29 PM on 05/27/2009

Might I also suggest that Congressional hearings with everyone who advocates for the continued use of these "enhanced interrogation techniques" be preceded by a separate interview using waterboarding. If "Mancow" changed his views after 6 seconds, how long would it take for others to flip-flop?

Has anyone not ever gotten water up their nose? How much fun was that? imagine having it done 183 times and tell me that's not torture. Of course torture is in the eye of the beholder, so as long as it's not happening to YOU, it's not torture.

Yes, this is the type of discussion that will help us learn more about how to balance liberty vs. security and how to deal with the moral complexities of life and death decisions during war against a fanatic enemy that violates all norms of warfare.

A radio buffoon being interviewed by a cable news buffoon.

No doubt if they were saying what you wanted to hear ("It isn't torture. And even if it is, it has protected America. And even if it hasn't, it still works. And even if it doesn't, it's still fun to do to bad guys.") you wouldn't be so quick to throw the "buffoon" label around.

"[A] fanatic enemy that violates all norms of warfare". In any other country than this one, the reader might think you were referring to the United States. Sad, isn't it? That we have become only slightly less evil than our "fanatic enemy".
