Sotomayor

The Hill:

Whoops. The Republican National Committee (RNC) has apparently inadvertently released its list of talking points on the nomination of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court.

Included on the released list were 500 influential Republicans who were the intended recipients of the talking points. Unfortunately for the RNC, so were members of the media.

The furthest thing from their small minds is a "thoughtful discussion". They were opposed before the nomination and are interested in nothing but their own self interests and return to power. The party of NO. No plan, no thoughts, no compassion. They should be ashamed.

For openers, those are pretty obvious 'talking points'.

The main complaint will have to be her comment about
judges 'making policy, er, law, er whatever.'

Will they not also complain about the prospect of SIX catholics on the Court?

Or, maybe, 8 of nine from just two Ivy League law schools?
Liberty Law is totally unrepresented!

Dems need only one talking point to send the GOP into madness: "Fair up or down vote." Just like Bush and GOP demanded for his unqualified appointees to the lower courts. By using Lunts-speak and Rove logic, the sentence makes it sound like:

The GOP wants to somehow corrupt the vote;
A reasonable request (up or down) omitting fact that 60 votes is perfectly fair in the Senate.
Anything other than this is playing politics.

Let's get the GOP on back on its heels before they pull a Pelosi on this woman.

How are they going to talk down the Fact that most these republicans voted her in a court placement undr the Bush adm?

As it says just now in the NYT:

' Although President Obama noted that she had first been nominated to the district court in 1992 by the first President Bush, she was actually chosen for the seat by Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, a Democrat, who had an arrangement with his Republican counterpart, Senator Alfonse M. D’Amato, to share district court judge selections in New York. President Bush did little more than ratify the agreement. ' ...

(I think she's an interesting choice, but there'll be some confirmation problems looming, for sure.)

Only one thing is wrong with this article...the title. Republicans never do anything 'accidentally'.
05:06 PM on 05/26/2009
Sure they do. This is hilarious. Now they are shown for the non-thinkers they are.

the talking points only have relevance if people don't realize that the GOP is told what to do and say. They are sheep.
06:45 PM on 05/28/2009
The republican party is going to cower down and not fight this nomination.
02:57 PM on 05/26/2009
What a bunch of bozos. Their ineptitude and incompetence never ceases to amaze.
