Tom Tancredo Calls Sotomayor Racist (VIDEO)

Tom Tancredo, the former Colorado congressman and radical anti-immigration activist, called President Obama's Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor a racist Tuesday, telling MSNBC's Ed Shultz she has said plenty of "things that are racist."

Tancredo failed to elaborate on his claims, but he suggested Sotomayor's nomination should be blocked on account of her "racism." No one else has called her out for before, he said, because she is Latina.

"Unfortunately for her, and fortunately us, there are plenty of things that we've even talked about here already that you keep ignoring," Tancredo said. "I'm telling you she appears to be a racist. She said things that are racist in any other context, that's exactly how we would portray it, and there's no one that would get on the Supreme Court, saying a thing like that, except for a Hispanic woman and you're going to say it doesn't matter? Well, man, where are you coming from? How can you possibly say that?"

Tancredo, who ran for president in 2008 on an anti-immigration platform, is no stranger to racist comments. One of his campaign ads suggested that illegal immigrants are likely to be terrorists. Among the causes he championed while serving four terms in Congress was an effort to deport all illegal immigrants from the country and outlaw any type of immigration to the U.S. -- legal or illegal. Tancredo once sought to deport the family of a Denver high school student who was profiled in the local paper for his good grades after he learned the student was not a legal citizen.

Mr. Tancredo has the motto for MECHA associated with NCLR (LA RAZA). He knows it, and he is purposely confusing the two in order to make Sotomayor look like a racist and right winged. The National Council of La Raza (NCLR) is "the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States – works to improve opportunities for Hispanic Americans." MECHA is the acronym for "Movimiento Estudiantíl Chicano de Aztlán", the Chicano Student Movement of Aztlan. "The goal of Aztlan is the secession of the Southwest U.S.A., which it calls Aztlan. The MEChA Constitution clearly calls for "the struggle for the self-determination of the Chicano people for the purpose of liberating Aztlán". Another key document, "El Plan de Aztlan", states that "Aztlan belongs to those who plant the seeds, water the fields, and gather the crops and not to the foreign Europeans. We do not recognize capricious frontiers on the bronze continent....We declare the independence of our mestizo nation...N­ationalism as the key to organization transcends all religious, political, class, and economic factions or boundaries. Nationalism is the common denominator that all members of La Raza agree upon. The MEChA slogan is "Por La Raza todo. Fuera de La Raza nada."

An oppressed minority cannot, de facto, be racist. The racist, capitalist system controlled and run primarily white males of European extraction exploits women and minorities, especially those of color. Because the system itself is racist and all members of the controlling cabal benefit from the racism and class exploitation (whether they consciously act racist or not) means that those who are oppressed and exploited cannot be racist. Only once the white male capitalist hegemony is broken and replaced with equality and the worker's paradise could a minority, and other reactionaries, be racist. Or so the folks at the University tell me. I'm sure Comrade Obama would agree....
