I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Tom Tancredo, the former Colorado congressman and radical anti-immigration activist, called President Obama's Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor a racist Tuesday, telling MSNBC's Ed Shultz she has said plenty of "things that are racist."

Tancredo failed to elaborate on his claims, but he suggested Sotomayor's nomination should be blocked on account of her "racism." No one else has called her out for before, he said, because she is Latina.

"Unfortunately for her, and fortunately us, there are plenty of things that we've even talked about here already that you keep ignoring," Tancredo said. "I'm telling you she appears to be a racist. She said things that are racist in any other context, that's exactly how we would portray it, and there's no one that would get on the Supreme Court, saying a thing like that, except for a Hispanic woman and you're going to say it doesn't matter? Well, man, where are you coming from? How can you possibly say that?"

Tancredo, who ran for president in 2008 on an anti-immigration platform, is no stranger to racist comments. One of his campaign ads suggested that illegal immigrants are likely to be terrorists. Among the causes he championed while serving four terms in Congress was an effort to deport all illegal immigrants from the country and outlaw any type of immigration to the U.S. -- legal or illegal. Tancredo once sought to deport the family of a Denver high school student who was profiled in the local paper for his good grades after he learned the student was not a legal citizen.

Who better than a racist to identify another racist? I do not understand the logic of pointing out that he is a racist to discredit his claim that Sotomayer is a racist. If I was a male chauvinist, would that mean that I would be incapable of pointing out another male chauvinist?

Every culture or ethniticity has a better understanding of their own culture than anyone who is not of
the same culture/ethniticity - just as a man cannot understand certain women's issues. Honorable Sonia Sotomayor would certainly have a better understanding of issues which affect women and Latinos because she is one - Why are certain people in the GOP so dense. Playing the race card will backfire in more ways than they can imagine. She is not a racist - she is a judge that was nominated by two previous presidents - Clinton and Bush -
GOP - get over it - you are out of touch with realtiy - you lost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BIGTIME!

I saw him last night, too, and he is taking his talking points right from Rush. Bill Press was beside himself with this silliness.

No, Tancredo's comments about nobody attacking her because of her race are racist. Did you actually hear her comments in context or do you just listen to what Boss Limbaugh says?

Did you hear the entire speech? Or did you hear snippets edited for use by the GOP?

Boy, how stoopid does not have to be to not listen to (or even WANT to listen to) the entire speech, without any editing???

Pretty stoopid!

What is this "justified" nonsense? Have you read some of her decisions? I would suggest you do before concluding she is racist, and/or racist against whites. She has ruled AGAINST many minorities in discrimination cases.

Read first.

The Newt is using this line also. Looks like this will be the Repugs talking point. Instead of her record, they will look at one out of context sound bite and morph it into racism, the usual for them.

I love how these old, GOP racists project their hates upon others. Since they are racist, they think everyone is racist.

When President Bush nominated Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court, Sen. Joe Biden had this to say:

" I think that the only reason Clarence Thomas is on the Court is because he is black. I don't believe he could have won had he been white. And the reason is, I think it was a cynical ploy by President Bush."

It's two decades later. Clarence Thomas has proven himself a smart, tough, and effective jurist. Joe Biden is now vice president - and his administration has made what looks very like a pick motivated by affirmative action considerations. Maybe somebody should ask Joe Biden whether Sonia Sotomayor would have been nominated if she had been male and white. And the great thing about Joe Biden is -- the guy might blurt the truth.

Just because Clarence Thomas is black doesn't mean he can justifiably demean women.

You have complex issues of morality in a judge to work out.

Clarence Thomas is an incredibly hateful man. He's so hateful he hates the face he sees in the mirror. I read his book. I was flabbergasted. He got upset about getting into Yale by affirmative action but he didn't drop out nor did Yale dumb down the curriculum for him so I think he needs to do some serious soul searching and find out why he hates the skin he's in....

Just my opinion

What I like about Tancredo is his honesty. The same goes for Pat Buchanan. I don't like what they say, but I appreciate the fact that they don't mince words.

Tancredo is easy to identify because he doesn't hide his vile opinions. The same goes for PAt. I always know what to expect, and they believe what they are saying. I am not sure, for example, if Rush believes what he says or if Ann Coulter believes what she says.

Tom Tancredo wouldn't know what honesty was if he fell into a huge pit full of it.
The same goes for Pat Buchannan.
