After trying out bing I ave to say it's not bad, will I switch from goole search ,probably not. But it's better than Yahoo search, I like the video feature, and the sidebars here are some microsoft predictions I enjoyed reading http://movies09.com/ign-e3-2009-microsoft-predictions.php

Wasn't it the Monty Python movie "The Meaning Of Life" where they had a machine that goes "bing"?

So Microsoft announces they are finally looking to play in a space that Google did several years ago.

Meanwhile Google announces the revolutionary "Wave" at the Google IO conference which will totally change how we e-mail, collaborate, manage projects, incorporating all the latest and greatest technology with their open source - the last demo is the best where they show a real time conversation where it translates between English and French as the words are typed in an instant messenger like session as each character is typed.

I don't use google for any email or the like. Since they like to save your stuff and hand it over to whoever, no thank you.

Second that

I won't be trying "Bing" or any Microsoft search engine, either. Now there's a company you REALLY can't trust.

My guess is that you haven't even watched the video otherwise you would understand that this would be installed on your companies own server and none of the information ever has to be seen by Google.

Why cant these people at least copy from other guys, like google- the video on http://www.bing.com/ComingSoon put me to sleep. Just look at the chrome ads. Surely, this is not 1984. But hey, lets see how far this goes. Whatever happened to CUIL?

"Coming soon", just cracked me up - It's VAPORWARE! Microsoft's favorite software.

If it's anything like their operating system then I want no part of it. Can you imagine the field day hackers will have with this product? You'd search for "travel" and it'd come back with "Eff You, get a life".

Ambitious and definitely a risky endeavor. I look forward to seeing it

If it has the word Microsoft on it, you can be sure it is simply a pale ripoff of someone else's hard work, and a thing to avoid.

I'm a linux user and do not use M$ products. But if he can do a search engine that isn't bloated like the rest and simple like google he could make it work. Plus if they do something similar to google adwords that is way more transparent against fraud clicks he could take away a huge chunk of money from google. I'm fed up with google and have already cut in half my advertising with them.

One thing about Microsoft (the company that everybody loves to hate) is that they are patient. Windows 1 was just another PC GUI like GEM and Topdesk...neither of which you likely have heard of. Lotus 123 was the impossible leader in spreadsheets, remember? And WordPerfect was everybody's word processor. Novell Netware was the standard server operating system.

Microsoft didn't beat any of them with version one of their competing product. But where other companies would have mothballed or sold off the product that wasn't an immediate hit Microsoft stayed patient with them, eventually learning how to play in the new space. And unlike many people's impression Microsoft does not insist on being number one in every market. For example they don't beat Logitech in peripherals or Oracle in databases or Nintendo in game consoles. But they aren't doing anything rash to push the Xbox past the Wii. They are just going to be patient with it.

There is a huge load of money to be made with the search engines, and as long as Gates controls the PC software market, he can eventually force us all to use Internet Explorer, as bad as it is.
