Gillette: Genital Shaving Video

In its latest ad campaign, Gillette's reaching out to a new market: aspiring body shavers. AdAge passes along Gillette's "How To Shave Your Groin" YouTube spot. The title pretty much says it all. (We'll spare you the details -- like the need to use "short, light strokes," for example). Check out the full video below:

It's nice that the Huff has a photo of an old school safety razor on this post. These are a much better choice for our environment.

The Gillette video is actually designed to sell more of their latest plastic multi-blade disposable monstrosity. I think they have decided that they can't keep adding more blades to push sales, so now they are trying to convince us to shave more stuff. I switched to the old-style safety razor last year. Check out plasticless.com, I have pictures of me bleeding somewhere on there.

That's the whole message right there.

Gillette was the company that founded the motto 'give away the razors, sell blades'. I have noticed that male grooming in fashion ads has in the last few years become a little more tolerant of a bit of stubble on the chin. So you got to figure out someplace else to sell those blades.

The bit about 'clearing away the underbrush to make the tree look taller'? Is anybody really that insecure? Or vain?
