ALOHA, Ore. (AP) -- An Oregon man spent Memorial Day in jail after calling 911 to complain that a McDonald's worker was rude and didn't give him an orange juice he ordered. Sheriff's Sgt. David Thompson said the man, 20, wouldn't listen when deputies told him the emergency number isn't to be used for straightening out fast-food orders.

A McDonald's employee also called 911 during the incident, complaining that the man and the people with him were blocking the drive-thru lane and knocking on the restaurant windows.

The man was accused of improper use of 911. The Oregonian newspaper reported that the man was bailed out of the Washington County Jail on Tuesday and could not be reached for comment.

Simple... buy one and get one free sandwich...

OK... One sandwich order had 2 as special... then you expect the third...

NO NO NO... they were clueless...

They have to get their acts together!!!!

Why don't they just open up a nationwide number for fast-food emergencies? I suggest the number 420.

I'm GLAD he went to jail - I think it should have been a few more days. His call to 911 could have interfered with a real emergency. What a jerk. And a stupid one at that.

But you think its fine for the corporate giant to call 911 at the same time?

I support the arrest of the store manager.

Was the customer supposed to take the law into his own hands?

Have they tried calling 911?

I once had an altercation and called 911 and was informed that it was the wrong number. It felt like an emergency - feelings were high, and there was arguing going on, and I was distressed. But apparently that's not enough, it needs to be something like gunfire or something. As it was, I was living with someone with my child and paying rent/utilities, we had a falling out and I decided to leave, but I didn't want to leave with my things in the house, and I was afraid that the person(s) would physically hurt me. That isn't emergency enough for police, I guess.

Who do you talk to when there is a "non-emergency" altercation that needs something like police intervention?

"Who do you talk to when there is a "non-emergency" altercation that needs something like police intervention?"

Most police departments have a non-emergency number that you can call to report something or to request that an officer be dispatched to your house. I have had to call ours a few times when a car was parked at the end of our cul-de-sac for a while. It didn't seem like a 911 type emergency, but I wanted a police car to check it out.

Although not available everywhere, many people can call 311 for non-emergency police calls, although some cities seem to use it for city service calls.
