Cameron Diaz

Variety:

Tom Cruise is zeroing in on the 20th Century Fox action comedy "Wichita" as his next star vehicle.

He'll pair with Cameron Diaz in the James Mangold-directed film. That ends a serious courtship that the star had since January with some of the highest-profile projects in Hollywood.

It's a good pairing for each, they were good in Vanilla Sky (which I just picked up on vid today), some good dramatic and weird acting for that flick. Plus they look age-appropriate together. I love Mr. Cruise, and while I think Cameron has shown too few examples of good talent (V. Sky, Gangs of New York), I think Tom can help her up her game.

I'm excited to see it. Yay!

Both salubrious and lugubrious concurrently.

Is it your impression that Diaz's and Cruise's careers are on a downward track? Diaz has had a "Meg Ryan" acting career - she's done some VERY good work that unfortunately nobody bothered to see, while her bread-and-butter parts have been mostly embarrassing fluff. Cruise brings the same level of intensity to every performance - whether it needs it or not. How many times can we listen to the same string being plucked?

This will be their second flop together.

I don't know that I'd call the $200 million global that Vanilla Sky pulled in a 'flop.'

And it was named as one of the best flicks of that year by Gene Siskel. I really like it, got it on dvd today, Cruise brings some wacky un-vain acting to it and lets it all hang out. Tilda Swinton, Penelope Cruz, Timothy Spall, the My-Name-Is-Earl guy, it's a boatload of talent, funky story, and good twists.

I think it is sad, that she is not married, yet. She is not getting any younger..

Surely you jest ???

Why do you think people need to get married?

Those who don't get married have more freedom, stay physically younger longer, look younger, have more money to spend, do what they like when they like, are totally responsible for their own wellbeing, most don't have children and don't have to make endless sacrifices for them, can take enormous risks to greatly enrich their lives, etc., etc.

The pros of being single are enormous.

This should be interesting.
She is 5' 8.5" tall and Cruise is 5'7" on a good day and wearing lifts.
Maybe in those scenes where they walk down the street she can walk in the rain gutter and they can shoot it from the waist up.

They dug a trench for Sigourney Weaver to walk in next to Mel Gison in The Year of Living Dangerously.
