Adam Lambert

'American Idol' runner-up Adam Lambert is not only openly gay, he is planning a Rolling Stone cover to confirm it after months of speculation, reports the NY Post.

'Idol' judge Kara DioGuardi is on a pretaped 'View' airing Friday, and during her sit-down she says he is out.

"I don't think that Adam was ever in [the closet]," she tells the ladies. "I think he was always openly out."

Meanwhile, Friday's NY Post reports he will be on the cover of next week's Rolling Stone.

"AMERICAN Idol" runner-up Adam Lambert has steadfastly refused to talk about his sexuality despite photos of him on his Web site tongue-kissing men and dressed in full drag -- but not for much longer. A well-placed magazine source tells Page Six that Lambert will be coming out officially on the next cover of Rolling Stone.

Neither Rolling Stone or Lambert's rep confirmed the cover news when called by the paper.

Thanks, Adam. We know it takes courage because of all the hateful, right-wing, religious bigots. Equality is for everyone, not just the religious fanatics.

Why do people get so hung up on the sexual orientation of others? Why say that someone is "openly gay" and not say that someone else is "openly straight"? For crying out loud, grow up and get a life.

Doesn't being "openly gay" imply that you're already out?

Just like Ellen found out, if you don't make a big deal over it, it will not be a big deal.
Seems like many want the publicity to stay in the news.
We really don't care.
Once you are doing songs with Queen or not, this 60 year old hetero will buy your music.
I would give the same advice to the Boyle lady. about just do what you do and most will not even think about anything but your singing.
Our military should adopt the Don't care, don't tell.

maybe U don't care,
but 20% of the people in this country DO care
and do all they can to make life miserable for a relatively 'few' glbt people.
so don't blame the glbt people for defending and protecting themselves from the hysterical rightwingers.

if u DID speak up, they just might SHUT up and
this would NOT be an issue at all.

In the meanwhile, we're not being quiet.
and neither would u.

Like it was a mystery. There was no REAL speculation, except maybe by tween girls.

I saw Adam in a local restaurant here in LA. He is so cool, who care what he is other than a very talented singer that is on top of the world. Hope he stays there for a long time.

Why do these people think we are just standing around, doing nothing with our lives, and waiting for them to come out of their closets?

Jesus H, just stay in the damned closet or do it privately.

Well um...the problem with your argument is that Lambert isn't the one that made his sexual life an issue. It was other, shallow people.

Don't hate.

No, you're not doing nothing with your life. You're spending it by avoiding it.

Yeah. It seems odd. I thought the idea was to blend in with society and to just be like everyone else.
Every time these people make a spectacle of it, it defeats the purpose.

The problem is of course that you have to get a seat at the table to begin with before you can blend in. When we get that it, you shouldn't have a problem any more.

Sure thing, just as soon as you stop being gr0ss and flaunting your heteros3xuality, k?

Did it ever occur to you that Mr. Lambert wasn't addressing this issue for your own benefit, but for the benefit of other young people who come from small towns and perhaps feel alienated or misunderstood? Maybe it sends a positive message to LGBT youth, reinforcing the idea that they, too, can achieve widespread acceptance. I know this might come as a shock, but not everything is about YOU.

Awchie, is that you Awchie? Heterosexual males talk about (and lie about) their sexual propensities, boobs, supermodels, and their indefatigable tools all the time. If you were to believe them, they 're having sex every day for four hours with their 10 inch tools and have bedded every babe in town because they're the best lovers in the world. Equal time buddy.

Defining someone as Gay just because of what they wear is very complicated and often a sham. Has anyone read Esther William's bio where she talks about her engagement to that very macho actor Jeff Chandler. Well, she goes to his house one day and finds him get up in makeup and a woman's dress and it wasn't a dress rehearsal for a part in a movie either. He wanted to talk about it and said something like his preference for wearing woman's clothing didn't have anything to do with his love for her. she flipped out and cut off the engagement.

Most transvestites and cross dressers are straight. Drag Queens are gay. Barry Humphries the guy who has portrayed Dame Edna for decades is straight.

Many straight guys have admitted to wearing lingerie underneath their clothes; it doesn't mean they want to sleep with a guy.

Adam did a great job of putting people who asked about his sexuality in their place diplomatically during the contest.
Everyone has seen how talented he is and that who he does it with doesn't change that.

"it doesn't matter" is code for "shut up". It does matter. We have a right to define ourselves, as str8 people do every day.

I may be hanging in the wrong crowds, but I never hear straight people telling me they are straight. Maybe if I was gay, it would seem that way. I know that when I'm in a place where I'm one of the few or only straight people, I'm aware of it.

So, if it makes you happy to tell people your preferences, by all means, please do so. Don't hide. Seriously.

"Straight" people don't say that they're straight because it's automatically assumed. Add to that, they DO say things that indicate they have an opposite sex significant other(when they do). When gays say they have a same sex significant other, suddenly they're on a soapbox about their preferences.

I'm thinking you don't get the dynamic. Let see if I can make it clearer. Let's say you work at a small company. It's the annual Christmas get together that's usually hosted at a restaurant's banquet room. The Company is picking up the tab. It's for employees of the company and their guests. For some that means a spouse, for others that means boyfriend or girlfriend. Lets assume you are a gay man and that you do have a boyfriend, although you have not talked about it at work. So you arrive at the restaurant with your boyfriend.

Tell me how does that scenario work for you.

it DOES matter
and in a very straight world, glbt people are also VERY aware of it: all the time; 24/7/365
its ALWAYS in our faces...and NOT by OUR choices!
when one is drowning alone in a sea of 'i don't fit in'
there is incredible freedom and exhilaration in saying, 'I DO fit in....somewhere'
if u don't 'get it,' don't put down/hate those who do!
it is the same for EVERY marginalized group (race, gender, etc)
