'American Idol' runner-up Adam Lambert is not only openly gay, he is planning a Rolling Stone cover to confirm it after months of speculation, reports the NY Post.

'Idol' judge Kara DioGuardi is on a pretaped 'View' airing Friday, and during her sit-down she says he is out.

"I don't think that Adam was ever in [the closet]," she tells the ladies. "I think he was always openly out."

Meanwhile, Friday's NY Post reports he will be on the cover of next week's Rolling Stone.

"AMERICAN Idol" runner-up Adam Lambert has steadfastly refused to talk about his sexuality despite photos of him on his Web site tongue-kissing men and dressed in full drag -- but not for much longer. A well-placed magazine source tells Page Six that Lambert will be coming out officially on the next cover of Rolling Stone.

Neither Rolling Stone or Lambert's rep confirmed the cover news when called by the paper.

Coming out?

Oh come on. Is there anyone who has seen him that didn't know he was flaming?

I mean really.

You are right! He is flaming excellent and exquisite - we should all be so lucky to be so talented, gracious, confident.... and free. I myself don't think inside gay/straight/bi boxes... and I suspect Adam doesn't either... but the public is a little less evolved so I can understand his desire to shake things up... help people grow. Rock on, Shine on Adam! We are One! (yes check out his studio recording of One... add that to A Change is Gonna Come (studio or live)... and we know it is a Mad World but we're still Feeling Good!)

Agreed.

This will be as shocking as Clay Aiken's revelation was.

Flaming what? I saw no fire. Why categorize people??? Why can't it just be said here was a kid with tremendous talent? Or can one only be talented if they are straight?

Oh, please. The previous commenter was not making your "one only be talented if they are straight" assumption. He was saying it wasn't a galloping shock that Adam was gay, as he was obviously gay from space.

Mars, dear, if you don't care... and are over the Look at Me culture, than with the greatest love I suggest a little self-awareness of why you are posting here and reading this? "Part" of you cares... in some way, or you wouldn't be here. And the story of Adam is one of Freedom and Love... it's more than any "coming out." He's a mirror for that kind of free life, beyond ego, living with generosity and cooperation (not competitiveness) ... something we can all live or aspire to. Sent with lots of love, forgiveness, and all that.... HTS

What rights have been stipped away?

You have more rights and protections than a white male who is not gay. I don't ever hearing you guys talking about that.

Whenever I hear something like this, it always occurs to me that these are just code words meaning you really do care, but only in the sense that closeted and living in fear of being found out is better than being true to yourself and others, and that's pretty shameful.

Why don't left-handed people "come out" on magazine covers that they're left-handed?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:20 PM on 05/29/2009
- BroMan I'm a Fan of BroMan 3 fans permalink

Because left-handed people are not vilified and stereoptyped and denied civil rights, thus they need no role model to "come out' for them and be proud of who they are.

Because left-handed people don't lose their jobs because they're left-handed or aren't hired for one if they are, have the right to get married and their names aren't Mathew Shepahrd. etc. as well as being an adolescent who hangs himself because he's been bullied at school and called Gay.

Oddly enough, left handed people were once thought to be evil. Look up the etymology for "sinister." Nowadays western culture has learned to deal with the fact that some people are left handed. It has a genetic basis. Animals also have been shown to favor one paw over another. Even today, there are still societies that force right handedness. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said there are no homosexuals in Iran, and it goes without saying there are no left handers

I cannot believe people are still speculating about it. Is it not 2009?! Are we still liking or disliking or judging people based on their sexuality. I am offended on behalf of all the homosexuals. He is Adam Lambert. Period. If he weren't who he is, he would not have been so uniquely fascinating!
Grow up people and stop asking this question!

Having been in professional music production of all genres for over 2 decades, from traditional Bob Jonesy Christian, to rap, to educational publishing, country and rock , I can affirm, like it or not, there would be no music industry if it weren't for gay artists, whether they be the singers, session players, writers, publishers, composers or promoters. Even the most conservative artists and producers are happy as clams to be working beside great talent of any stripe - it takes a lot of mature people working together to make good music. We should all just move on from the gay issue, especially if we like music and cinema.

Ya Know.. not that it matters or is even really relevant.. But.... I never read Lambert as 'Gay'..His sexuality never entered the equation for me.. He seemed more like the guys I dated in the 80's.. tight pants, eyeliner and androgyny.. He brought back the RAWK for me.. in a way I haven't seen in years and in a way that is new but still pays homage to the singers I loved.. Axl Rose, Plant, Mercury, Geoff Tate, Rob Halford, Steven Tyler, Bruce DickinsonSebastian BachDavidLeeRothMickJaggerDavidBowie... etc...

Seems strange to read now that what I considered normal attire for Men is also some kind of Gay Signal to some... Black Nail Polish = Homosexual...lololol I have to chuckle a little thinking at the reaction some of my strictly straight exes might be having at the news that they all looked so Gay!..

Actually it's not true. There's plenty of young guys walking around with black nail polish etc and who are straight. It's not what you wear that makes you Gay or straight e.g., there's men who like to wear women's clothes who only have sex with women.

Ok, so he reminds you of a cross between Mercury and Halford? That is your gaydar talking to you...

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:46 PM on 05/29/2009

That's largely how I felt - he reminded me so much of growing up in the 70's/80's. I think that's one reason why I read of so many people in their 50's/60's who love him.

Given the photos on the web, it was pretty obvious he was gay. So? Like all great artists he creates a fantasy and exudes a strong sensuality that sucks you in. He's very sexy.

There's so many facets of sexuality - I am a straight woman but through the years have flirted with and been attracted to gay men, lesbian women, straight women, and straight men- my biological preference.

As far as "the attire" makeup, nail polish etc. signaling anything, check out the guys on "Daisy of Love" (really dumb show BTW). Most of these hetero guys are dripping in makeup, nail polish, and outrageous outfits - it's more of a rocker/punk look than anything gay.

Am I wrong to think that maybe we'll reach towards equality when we stop making a big deal about people's sexuality? Can't we find something else to obsess about, like the fact that while everybody was busy watching american idol, our health insurance premiums probably doubled again.

Clay Aiken is a no talent, rude geek. The only time you hear about him is when he does or says something inane, like when he put his hand over Kelly Ripa's mouth on Regis and Kelly.

Clay is very talented. He just picks some pretty bad music to sing. Too bad he isn't as discriminating about the songs he sings as the comments he makes about fellow Idol Alumni. He needs to loosen up in more ways than one.

Good for Adam!
EVERY LGBT person should come out to family, friends, co-workers, and also to their CHURCHES.
As Harvey Milk said, (paraphrased) "It's for the kid in Kansas, who has no one to look up to. Come out".

In these times, I don't like gay celebs who don't want to discuss their private lives. They can say "I'm gay, or lesbian, & leave it at that.
As our rights are being voted on by others, EVERY gay person should come out - LOUD & PROUD!
Thank you.

Why do LGBT people have to come out and say anything? I'm not saying anyone should have to hide their sexuality. But straight people don't have to declare that they are hetero.

Isn't the ideal that everyone is treated equally, and gets to behave the same?

So when straight people have public marriages or pictures of their spouses and children on at work, they aren't declaring their sexuality? When a man and a woman are holding hands and kissing in public, they aren't declaring their sexuality?

Inquiring minds want to know. If gay people are quiet about their sexuality straight people start asking questions. I didn't start watching Idol until the 5th season - that was Taylor hicks right. Anyway, I didn't Aiken / Stoddard sing along. However I do believe that Clay was "flaunting" his sexuality. Yet, immediately the rumor mill started. Go to any work place or school, if you have a hint of "gayness" the rumors cranks up. Because of flirts, it's unavoidable. Look at it this way, If Clinton hadn't responded to Monica flashing her thong at him he would've have been thought gay, and if he was single - definitely gay, and if Monica looked like airhead Prejean - way gay. More gay people would like to remain in their cozy little closets, but straight people won't let them. However, as soon, as they come out straight people get upset. "Why do you have to flaunt it, why are you always throwing it in our faces. Why do you have to talk about your boyfriend." Straight people flaunt it; throw it in gay people's faces, and talk about their love lives all the time.

Straights declare their heterosexuality all the time and it happens in offices, at schools, all over. When straights stop tallking about their wives and husbands and stop defining marriage as between a man and woman only, I might consider not talking about anyone in my life. Nah, I wouldn't.

Straight people reveal their orientations every day. You are just unaware of it because it's so constant and so taken for granted.

How about this possible explanation: Not everyone's idea of entertainment is a Broadway or Las Vegas show? Adam is very theatrical, even operatic. Simply, it's not everyone's cup of tea. Has being gay had any negative effect on the careers of Michael Stipe, or Freddy Mercury, or Peter Gabriel? I think it's been a while since the Hollywood of Rock Hudson.

Besides, Adam didn't "lose." He simply did not come in first. I suspect the career he has before him will not look anything like a "loser's" life. He's succeeded.
