Mancow Waterboarding Called Into Question

Miami Herald:

I dunno, maybe actual NBC reporters don't want to come on Keith Olbermann's show since he took to bellowing insults at them on the air while anchoring the network's coverage of the Republican convention last year. Whatever the reason, he's now apparently resorted to faking stories. The media-news site Gawker has been reporting for two days that the video of waterboarding you can see up above was faked. And, Gawker adds (though, it should be noted, without attribution), Olbermann knew it.

OK, there's something hilarious about Gawker saying Mancow is not to be taken seriously. It's not every day a site with an audience of prank-calling 12-year-olds gets into an insult war with a shock-jock for having with an audience of prank-calling 12-year-olds.

The Miami Herald reporter, Gavin something, couldn't even get his facts straight. I'm surprised that HuffPo would pick up his story, and the Gawker's clearly faulty reporting. I guess they feel they have to because the MSM reports it, and HuffPo wants to be the MSM. Or something.

Either way, it seems like Gawker and the Miami Herald aren't doing any fact checking. I'm not surprised about the former, but I am about the latter.

The story hit here before Olbermann covered it, didn't it? Olbermann had Mancow on his show, and Mancow attested to the absolute opposite conclusion he intended to prove with his stunt. No conservative does that just for publicity. Mancow is in hot water with his own, and even his buddy Hannity says he still doesn't believe it's torture. Olbermann didn't pay Mancow to come on his show. He gave Mancow's military charity the money he would have given to Hannity's if he'd had the nads to do it himself. That being said, it wasn't authentic waterboarding, which would have been much worse. Ask Hitchens.

I suspect that mancow want to FAKE the waterboarding in order to clamin that it WASNT TORTURE and instead got a taste of the real thing.

The real thing does not end in 6 seconds.
The real thing does not have the victim's hands loose.
The real think does not let the victim sit up after 6 seconds.

Whether Mancow faked it or not, I'm calling bullshit on the assertion KO and/or his producers knew in advance.

Personally, I don't think he would do it because doing so would be deliberately lying, and I think he possesses integrity and honesty that wouldn't allow him to do that. He is bombastic at times, but he doesn't lie.

And even if you think he would lie, it would require him being phenomenally stupid. To contribute to a hoax, knowing the evidence that would implicate him exists would be to put his entire career in Mancow's hands. And no matter what you may think about KO's integrity (which I happen to think is rock solid), he is obviously not stupid.

I find this article suitable for Faux news because it makes no logical sense. Mancow has many times claimed waterborading was not toture. Now Gawker claims his waterboarding was faked. Well Gawker then if this were the case why didn't Mancow get up laughing, and jumping up and down saying, see I was right it ain't torture. sorry not buying your line of BS

Funny that you mention Fox News. I did a search last night, on their site, looking for links to the Mancow waterboarding story. NOT ONE. They never carried it, nor have I seen where they have commented on it. That's enough to tell me it was real. Besides, it looked pretty real to me. Kind of hard to fake having water poured on your face.

Still waiting on Hannity to lay down for a bath...

spot on. The water boarding was 'simulated' becaue Mancow could call it off. In real water boarding there is no safe word ... geez, these people just won't let up. Also the $ was the donation promised just as KO promised to donate for (in)Shane Hannity had been water boarded.

In addition, he had a cloth over his eyes, not his mouth and nose, and the guy tipped a pitcher of water down his throat, not over the cloth. And, it only lasted 3 seconds. I say he needs to redo to claim his prize.
