It's his job. And he does it well.
Sorry but Carl Levin is my Senator and he is spot on always has been, he isn't an ideologue he calls it like it is.
I am proud to have him as my Senator and will stand behind him 100%, he does everything for our troops and for the working men and woman in his country some of you may not be able to say nice things about your Senators but I can. He voted against this war and voted to fund closing Guantanamo.
So slam him all you want but get your facts about Senator Levin first.
Don't worry Mr. Levin... We believe you. We believe all the politicians.
Then you don't know this man. There are very few I tend to believe. Him, Kucinich, and Feingold are about it. Levin has always been one of the better senators. He has tried endlessly to take care of the working class. Go take a look at his record. You'll be surprised. He is one of the rare good ones that actually stands by what he says.
Glad you trust a politician. Most Americans don't.

Regardless of what the documents prove, disprove, or don't prove, the American public has a right to expect the truth so that we can make an "informed decision." Just like the founding father's wanted us to.
Besides, even if Chaney is telling the truth, it still proves his is guilty of crimes against humanity, just like Hussain, who we captured and then allowed to be tried and executed.
So. Do it already. Release the documents.
It seems pretty likely that Cheney knows these memos will not be publicly released any time soon and so he can say pretty much whatever he wants about them.
Another theory is that Cheney "salted" CIA files with fake documents that would exonerate him, just for this purpose. In which case, Levin thwarted that with copies of the originals.
Cheney is above the law, same goes for Bush , Yoo, Bybee, Addington, Bradbury, Gonzales, Rove....et al...
I hope they finish and release the list of all those above the law, so we know next time and save ourselves all this foolishness about a Constituti

With these people it's always a matter of degree. Cheney pretty much has 0% credibility.

The fact that Cheney thinks the memos prove his case, while Levin thinks they don't, is indication enough that people will read into these memos what they wish.
The right will pounce on any glimmer of an indication that tor-ture saved even a few lives. It won't matter to them if the memos show whether the plots were really serious and operational, whether tor-ture was used successfully only after non-torture techniques failed, or whether most of the information obtained through tor-ture in fact consisted of false leads.
Releasing the memos won't end the controversy.
Who says Cheeny thinks that? All we know is what he claims to be true.
