Why You Shouldn't Thank Your Spouse Too Much

I do expect to be appreciated to some degree -- on Father's Day and throughout the year. But do I want to be lavished with gratitude for all my contributions around the house? For my time with the kids? For going to work? Maybe I should leave well enough alone. After all, women are often advised to appreciate men for even their smallest effort at chores -- to compare them to their own fathers rather than to themselves -- in hopes of encouraging such behavior. I could easily sit back and enjoy this perk.
