Mancow Addresses Accusation That His Waterboarding Was A Hoax (VIDEO)

Erich 'Mancow' Muller appeared on "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" Friday to address rumors that the waterboarding he underwent a few weeks ago to see whether the technique was constituted torture was in fact a hoax. Olbermann mentioned a report on Gawker which reported that Mancow's waterboarding was 'completely fake' and simply a publicity stunt. As evidence they mentioned an email from Mancow's publicist that said "It will be a hoax but have to look real."

While Mancow admitted to Olbermann that it was fair to call the incident a "stupid radio stunt," he noted that "waterboarding, all it is is water in your nose and mouth with your head back. I'm not David Copperfield. We had 50 news cameras there." He suggested that while the event was meant as a stunt, as his publicist suggested, the events that took place were completely real.

My understanding is that the "money" was in the form of a donation in Mancow's name to a veteran's charity chosen by Mancow--$1000 for each second--the same deal that Olbermann offered to Hannity...Mancow lasted 6 seconds but Olbermann made a $10,000 donation.

Really Mancow did it on his own to try to disprove that waterboarding is torture, however his experience proved to him it was. Olberman did not make him do it.

Total twisting of the truth. Olbermann never paid to have anybody tortured. He volunteered to pay for Hannity WHO VOLUNTEERED to be tortured and he paid a guest to come on his show (as all guests are paid by union rules) to talk about being tortured. He made no profit. He conducted or paid for no torture.

1. Get a Veterans Organization to sponsor this to raise money for charity
2. They will supply people who know how to waterboard
3. Set up taped waterboard events all over the country
4. Compile a list of all the people who think waterboarding is not torture and is no big deal.
Get them to come out and show how long they can last and how it is not torture.
5. Give the millions raised to the charities

He offered to do it, Mancow blew it so this is his chance to prove once and for all it's not torture.

The thing I thought was strange about this "waterboarding" episode was that they were pouring the water into his mouth, rather than in the nose as I had remembered seeing it. And to me it is much easier to deal with water in the mouth -- it is in the nose where it feels like drowning.
