Anderson Cooper's Rating Woes "Most Troubling" To CNN Staffers: Politico

It's Cooper's ratings that are the most troubling, say staffers, given the resources and heavy promotion for his show, and persona. For years, Klein has talked up Cooper, once famously dubbing him "the anti-anchor" and, in the aftermath of Katrina, as "a reporter [who's] got that magical something.

But that magic may be wearing off.

Maybe it's just me, but I can't imagine HOW AC360 or anything CNN did during the 2008 Election won them any award. It wasn't Cooper who helped them win that award. He is dreary, emotionless and bland. Campbell Brown was suppose to be their big counter to Olbermann/Matthews/Maddow but she fell flat. No Bias, No Bull, No Interest.

I do not mind Anderson and he was great on Katrina. But CNN has turned me off with so many right of centre people like LOu Dobbs. Gloria Bolger, that notning of a broadcaster that just came back from being pregnant and the talking heads that are far to the right or right of centre you rarely of ever have a true liberal on. I would like more air time with people like Kristiane- some really bright people instead of Lou Dobbs nattering away with his right wing babble.

Anderson Cooper lacks any depth. He merely repeats what has been said throughout the day without any significant analysis or contribution.

His "take" on the news is also noticeably biased and he lacks the intellectual firepower of someone like Rachel Maddow.

I used to love AC360. Now it is a waste of time. Each time I try to watch it, I have to turn away.

I don't watch anymore, but "depth" was not the problem. The story chosen to cover was the problem. It's not news that one expects to see on CNN. The stuff he was covering should have been on Entertainment Tonight.

His international work is far superior than most tv journalists, from his war coverage to Africa to Hurrican Katrina, to just about anywhere he goes across the globe. He is THE MAN when it comes to his international reporting, probably because it's NEWS, not silly entertainment stuff, ie, news you can't possibly use.

Anderson looks robotic, bored and uninformed. He knows nothing about politics, and comes across that he could care less. I can't stand to watch an newsperson allow guests to talk lies, nonsense and stir up hatred, without questioning the facts. They are letting the viewers down and being bad journalists.

Anderson is Liberal and not misinformed. I personally think they've been instructed to stay in the middle on the political divide, but don't realize that most times they are viewed as being too far to the right, especially John King. He lost his luster before he even got his show.

But, how would I know, I don't watch CNN any more. I got tired of hearing the SAME THING over and over and over.

Personally, it's not the "middle of the road" politics that makes me tune out from Anderson, it's the random human interest, criminal case stuff that clogs his show. Viewers want politics, not 10 minutes of the latest crime or octuplet drama.

He should just add Kathy Griffin as his co-anchor and make it an entertainment show. Like they do on New Year's. And Kathy can take swipes at Anderson for still being in the closet, and Anderson can laugh uncomfortably and ratings solved.
