Politico:

It's Cooper's ratings that are the most troubling, say staffers, given the resources and heavy promotion for his show, and persona. For years, Klein has talked up Cooper, once famously dubbing him "the anti-anchor" and, in the aftermath of Katrina, as "a reporter [who's] got that magical something.

But that magic may be wearing off.

My favorite is MSNBC. I like Hardball, ED, Countdown, Maddow plus, David Schuster, Nora O’Donnell, Lawrence O’Donnell and all the anchors. This Carlos Watson and Tamara Hall is good too ! Of course Chuck Todd, David Gregory, Savannah Murphy

I like Anderson Cooper for a change of view and CNN. Also I like BBC America News.
I never watch FOX Noise !!!

CNN needs a big overhaul. I barely watch it anymore. Lou Dobbs is worn out. AC Cooper lack substance and objectivity. Campbell Brown is trying hard but isn't going anywhere with here program. I doubt that CNN can last much longer.

AC is in over his head. He is either intellectually ill equipped (a constant theme among tv news readers) or simply not prepared. Neither is excusable. Guests--mostly on the right--spew their lies and untruths and he does not know to respond. So it gets into the public record and assumed to be true (see Judith Miller who is the poster child for lightweight easily manipulated print journalists).

CNN sold their sole for ratings. What they got is a bunch of hot air.

if you think Anderson Cooper is intellectually ill-equiped, his sidekick Erica Hill then is definitely not smart - he certainly has more brains than she does, and rather sad he seems to admire he so for seemingly that.

Michael, you are spot on! He is lightweigh, robotic and does not react to blatant lies that are said on the show. Pathetic!

Too bad for Anderson. He's better as a field reporter. He knows nothing about politics, and comes across that he could care less. Myself, can't stand to watch an anchorperson/commentator/news broadcaster allow guests to talk lies, nonsense and stir up hatred, without a facts. CNN does this all the time, and Fox is just in denial. Give me MSNBC news any day all day of the week. There is where you will get your facts, if that interest you. Problem....MSNBC is not on all cable, so it doesn't seem fair to compare their ratings to CNN and Fox Fake news.

I couldn't have said it better myself. I like MSNBC, but they do have "Fox like" Morning Joe.

Morning Joe is getting hard to watch. Personal conversations between Joe and Mika do not constitute news. Pat Buchanan has come off the rails (I mute tv when he talks) and I watch taped shows because I can't stand listening to Joe rant that early in the morning.

Another misrepresentation using numbers. One must factor the demographics and access in each number to do a FAIR comparison. Household does not equal access, in all cases. If Fox News is on basic cable and MSNBC is on Premium cable, in a heavily democratic area, the Fox News number is artificially skewed higher.

I personally know people who hate Fox News, but watch because the channel is available without a cable box and MSNBC is not. This is like the Rush L 20 million viewer number, when you include the areas where the show is given away for free.

Anderson Cooper's noncoverage of recent events is Gaza was predictable, given that he adheres to the pro-Israel, Arab-bashing & Islamophobic line set by corporate America.. I have said this before, but Cooper's coverage of Gaza was epitomized for me in this scenario:
( 1) Cooper talks during the worst of the IDF's bombing to an articulate Palestinian doctor who was on the cell phone from his house in beleagured GAZA (2) Cooper saying that well aren't the Israelis warning you all to leave your homes (as if the IDF is doing them a favor)? (3) Palestinian doctor's wounded, but dignified response to Cooper's insensitivity & lack of empathy that NO family should be asked to leave their home, esp. when there is NO place to go & bombs are bursting (4) Cooper being what appeared to be genuinely surprised. A few days later he was in Israel, obsessing with Mayor Bloomberg & Joe the P. about a few broken concrete driveways.

WOLFE BLITZER IS NOT A DEM AND IF HE IS SO IS LOU DOBBS!!

ANDERSON COOPER NOW THAT I THINK ABOUT IT MIGHT BE A DEM BUT ITS HARD FOR ME TO TELL!!

This show lost its objectiveness long ago. When ever there is a controversial issue which happens quite often like Iraq, abortion, water boarding, Sonia Sotomayor… the network never has the correct balance. It’s 2 republicans against 1 moderate democrat or 1 radical republican again an unbiased party/independent or 1 radical republican against no one. Such was the case last week when Anderson interviewed Liz Cheney.

It was like watching a train wreck. He let her spout nonsense for the whole 5-8 minute interview. No opposing viewpoints were entertained. In fact, there was no opposition from the other side. Anderson, like a deer in the headlights, let Liz bull-doze him with BS. He tried several times quoting from a piece of paper and was quickly brushed off like a gnat. Like a Pro football player matched against the local little boy’s league he was crushed time and time again. Helpless, defenseless and pathetic, this is what CNN calls balanced?? I kind a felt sorry for him. He got in way over his head and had no one to bail him out. If this had been Biden, there would have been a whole panel setup to parse every word he said with 2-3 analysts from the Right against either Paul Begala or James Carville both who are very nuanced.

I love Anderson, but I hate this softball, superficial show.

CNN needs to let Anderson off his leash!

I agree! They should not censor him as but as they openly do. Let his liberalism shine -- and shine beautifully. However, I will respect his decision (if it's his) to be more objective in covering the news. Either way he is good.

All you people are LOONS! Left-Wing Radical Loons!

I've thought being liberal on the Huffpost makes me in familiar territory, but apparently not. Listen, I love Olbermann (especially his special comments) and I like Rachel Maddow. I hate Fox News (especially Glenn Beck) and I tolerate Bill O'rielly. I believe CNN is Moderate (clearly leaning left) -- They are Moderate Left News network - barring Lou Dobbs.

Cooper as shown that he is a liberal. Just not an "out" liberal (no pun intended). But, he shows it subtly. He tries to be objective. I respect that approach and applaud it. But have no doubt, he votes Democratic. You people want Fire-breathing liberals and there ain't nothing wrong with that (I love olbermann), but to say CNN is a pawn of the Right because they aren't as liberal-shouting as you would like is clearly, RADICAL LIBERALISM that needs to be gauged!

Aren't all networks seeing a decline in ratings now that the election frenzy is over? Any non-die-hard news-watchers have quit watching the news, except maybe their local channels, post-election, and have gone back to their lives.

I also think middle-of-the-road, non-biased reporting is boring to most viewers now. People want to hear more opinionated commentating, so they tune to FOX or MSNBC. But anybody watching CNN just wants hard facts about a recent plane crash or whatever the top story of the day is. Otherwise, they tune out.

Replacing Aaron Brown with Anderson Cooper was one of the biggest mistakes CNN ever made.

CNN is the problem. With their hyper-led ins..sensationalizing of the news whether it is Anderson Cooper, Lou Dobbs or Sanjay Gupta (the list goes on). CNN used to be the one place to get throughtful reflective insightful news coverage. No more. They have lost their way. If I want hyper sensationalist news there is MSNBC for left wing and FOX for right wing. CNN "trying" to stay non biased but being hysterical at the same time, doesn't work. Fareed, Amanpour and Crowley are all they have left, but can't stand to get through all the bells, whistles, panels of people sitting on stools with computers in front of them, technical crap...never mind. Obviously I am not alone in this.

Stopped watching Cooper a long while back. All the pushing / publicizing of AC360 by CNN just turned me off even more. The guy is not well-informed and comes across as someone who is in way over his head on most topics.
