Abortion Doctor Shooting

Colorado Independent:

Hours after the Sunday morning shooting death of late-term abortion doctor George Tiller in Wichita, Kan., a Boulder physician who says he could be the only doctor in the world still performing the procedure said Tiller's assassination was the "absolutely inevitable consequence" of decades of anti-abortion fanaticism.

"I'm profoundly sad and I'm furious and I think the American people need to understand that we have a fascist movement in this country," Dr. Warren Hern told The Colorado Independent on Sunday. "We don't have to invade Iraq to find terrorists. They're right here killing abortion doctors.

Operation Rescue has always been a terrorist group as they have employed psychological warfare with their rhetoric and a small number of ultra-zealots inflicting occasional violence for a number of years. This is the very archetype for terrorist activity.

If you look at the history of recognized terrorist groups from the IRA to al Qaida, it's the same story, the instilling of fear through extremist rhetoric combined with occasional violence from the more radical of the group.

It's not a "pro-life", "anti-abortion" or "anti-choice" movement. It's a "forced pregnancy movement".

Well, so to speak.

The anti-choice supporters are in effect condemning a woman to a prolonged and continuing medical condition that has the potential of maiming and/or killing her.

And the child. Even in cases where the fetus is proven not to have developed a functioning brain, meaning it would be stillborn, these extremists would have the mother carry it to term and go through the physical and emotional trauma of the birth process to deliver a dead child. These fanatics love to talk about every child being sacred and unique, but when it comes to specific cases, they can't accept the specific and unique details of the case. They insist that every pregnant woman as capable of surviving the birth process and every fetus as a child that would live if not for the surgical intervention. It's an unrealistic generalization, a fantasy that does not stand up to reality.

I don't know about that. Something tells me this is going to continue to be a high-profile case.

Speak for yourself. Rachel Maddow gave a compelling time line on her Monday broadcast, listing clinics bombed, victims killed (including nurses, doctors and bystanders), the terrorists who carried out these cowardly attacks and the direct links between them. It was chilling. You can view it on rachel.msnbc.com - I would encourage everyone to take a look at it. There is no doubt these are acts of domestic terrorism carried out by unapologetic criminals, openly praised by forced pregnancy organizations such as Operation Rescue.

Just watch Rachel Maddow with Professor Turley. His answers regarding culpability was not accurate. Rachel should have had on someone from the Southern Poverty Law Center. Tey are use to trying domestic terrorist. They bankrupted the klan when a "loner" harrassed a black woman and burned her house down. The court found the organization financial liable due to its continuing speeches of hate.

The conservatives are all for small government, except for using our troops to make other countries safer for profitmaking, and for controlling other people's private lives.

Exactly. Our own domestic terrorists. The same ones scared of Gitmo who are worse than the ones at Gitmo.

There is no such thing as an abortion doctor. Dr. Tiller was a OB/GYN who performed various types of surgical procedures. The usage of this term plays into the hands of domestic terrorists who are allowed to operate openly in the United States. They have websites celebrating terrorism and the terrorists who commit these illegal acts. They even provide guidance on how to commit terrorists acts without beng captured. These organizations are far more dangerous to the stability of this country than any detainee in Gitmo and should be treated as terrorists organizations. Any media organization that uses the vile term "abortion doctor" should be flooded with complaints and boycotted. We are all in danger now. They believe that their acts of violence are sanctioned by God.

Worse, they believe their notion of God offers women better medical advice than they can obtain from trained physicians.

What the Dr. should have called the movement is "fundamentalist terrorist" not fascist. Fundamentalist are home-grown terrorist, regardless of the "ism" or "anity" behind their belief system. They are using murder to control and have power over others--in this case, it is woman's right to control her own uterus. It is their way or there will be blood.

All and any form of fundamentalist belief systems should be outlawed as a form of terrorism. The people who follow these ideologies are cretins with an agenda whose goal is violent submission of others. Anyone who supports or is affiliated with radical anti-abortion fundamentalist, like Randall Terry, should be arrested for conspiracy before we have more Waco groups, like Koresh and Warren Jeffs, both radical fundamentalist leaders who believed in terrorizing women and children into submission.

If a doctor removes a dead fetus from a woman in her third trimester, is he still considered a murderer?

Should the mother be condemned to die because it's "God's Will?" Even though medical removal of the dead and decaying fetus would save her life? After all the medical procedure is technically an abortion.

What say you, you antichoice people? You folks out there who think you have the right to control women's reproductive rights.
If you prohibit medical procedures to women in life threatening circumstances and if they should die from that denial, are you not indeed playing God? How do you reconcile that with the knowledge and expertise that God gave certain people to save life.

After all you are always claiming you only care about "life."

I think the good doctor does not understand what fascism is. It is the merging of corporations and the government. Kind of like what is happening to the banks and auto companies.

Is President Obama the new IL DUCE?

Fascism is the merging of propaganda (FoX) religion (Right wing evangelicals) and Corporations (Halliburton) to control National Politics. I think the good Doctor knows better than you.

Fascism is also defined as 'a philosophy that is marked by stringent social control; oppressive'. The good doctor got it right if he was using that definition.

Yes, but the merging of business and government to attain those goals. We have been pushing toward that goal since the 1980's. It has been happening under Dems an Rep administrations. Lok at what Dick Durbin said about the banks owning the Senate. It's true and I really don't see what we can do about it. Both parties are there to keep the people of the country in conflict with each other so what is happening to our nation can be hidden. I had high hopes for the President (and still do) but I think the forces arraighed against him are to big. Too much of our government is owned by special interests on the left and the right.

We have to give President Obama time but if he fails then Viva La Revolution.

Actually, that's not the definition of fascism either. For the sake of brevity, the word can best be described as "hyper, militaristic nationalism."

My religion- I am a insomniac agnostic dyslexic. I lay awake all night wondering if there really is a Dog.

Hopefully the anti-choice movement will heed your advice, and stop adopting the tone of the moral high ground to justify gunning down doctors.
