Rolling Stone's "green issue" is a real attention-getter. Australian model Miranda Kerr -- you may have seen her as a Victoria's Secret angel or on fiancé Orlando Bloom's arm.

According to news.com.au, "She says she decided to go "au naturel'' to raise awareness of the environment, specifically koalas."

what's up with RS being so porno lately? The last 2-3 issues have been more risque than usual. I'm not a prude by any means but just wonder if they feel this is what they have to do to attract more subscribers/buyers. I know print media is suffering. I was upset when they reduced the size which made them unique and now this......­.

I gave up my decade-plus subscription to RS a dozen or so years ago. The magazine became more than 50% advertisements. It just wasn't worth it to have all that printed media around with worthless ads. Later they reduced the size of the magazine, too. Better for the environment but I would imagine with the ads being the same or more percentage, likely even less content than before. I think I made the right decision to quit.

It's probably cheaper than doing real reporting. That costs staff and production time and it's risky. Naked models is risk-free.

Is it possible for Rolling Stone to sell any issues of their magazine without having a Maxim-type cover? I know I'm romanticizing the past, but I remember when RS had a soul, when they were leaders of what was cool, not just followers. As a 40-year old man, I know I'm not their target audience anymore, but they've done a great job of making sure people like myself never buy their magazine again.
