Would Rev. Wilfredo De Jesus Be Chicago's First Openly Homophobic Alderman?

The City Council may soon have its first openly homophobic alderman. If Mayor Daley decides to appoint the Rev. Wilfredo De Jesus to replace 26th Ward Ald. Billy Ocasio, Chicago's GLBT activists might go ballistic. Then again, they might just punt.

No matter who Daley appoints, you shouldn't vote for him! Our city is in REAL trouble, and Daley has been mayor for twenty years! Daley is responsible for all the city's woes.

why can't the gays be more tolerant of other people's views, they only represent about 1% of America so they should learn to live with the rest of us.

It's called equal rights. Gays are tolerant of others views except that others views infringe on their right to exist as normal citizens of the USA. And Mayor Daley can appoint who he wants, he is going to lose the next election anyway. Everybody I know who use to support him, myself stupidly included, are done with him. He has sold our to city to the highest bidder.

Call Richie Daley a lot of things (deservedly), but one thing he is definitely not, is a homophobe.
AND, I don't think he wants to commit political suicide.
The GLBT community in this city is huge and very politically active. They would go after him in a heartbeat if he appointed De Jesus.
