Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert returned to television last night after a week off--a week in which the President nominated Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court. Stewart took on cable news networks (and Republicans in general) for focusing solely on her race and misrepresenting her background as foreign when the judge was born in the United States.

Stewart then looked into her history, growing up in the projects with a single mother trying to avoid drug dealers, and begged the question: "Is that her life story did Oprah create her in a focus group?"

Colbert, on the other hand, was incredibly angry at the president for stripping young white men of the dream to be a supreme court justice. He called the nominee a racist and backed that assertion up by showing clips of conservative talking heads.

Madame Sotomayor doesn't need the inane, sophomoric humor of comedians to defend her.

I knew that there was an angle to this story that wasn't being covered! Of course! Because reverse racism is the opposite of the way you are supposed to be a racist!

It really is a sad and pathetic image of our MSM when these comedy shows (love Stewart and Colbert, but still...) are the only ones basically calling out/challenging the Rethuglicans' screeches.

at least we all know where the unemployed are ......the 3 million people that have the time to watch fox news like zombies all day long . the same batch of people get counted for all of fox ratings ......the question is dont these people work.

Corlbert's segment should be title as " White men can't Judge? "
07:36 PM on 06/02/2009
Once again, Stewart and Colbert tell the real story, while the MSMs DANCE around the heart of the issues, the din and the ignorance.

Colbert and Stewart make Americans look hard into the mirror that is US (pun intended)

And they manage to do it in so little time -- genius -- and they always make the MSM look like fools.

What a sad commentary on our nation that the truth has to be spoken on two comedy shows.
09:31 PM on 06/02/2009
As opposed to the other comedy network that never tells the truth - foxnews.

FOX is a failure as a comedy channel. They need to give up.
04:57 PM on 06/02/2009
Too bad they aren't on either CBS, NBC, OR ABC everyone needs to get them

Here's a parody about the Sotomayor insanity to the tune of "America" from West Side Story
