Eminem/Bruno: YES It Was Staged

NEW YORK — The head writer for the MTV Movie Awards has settled the debate: the stunt involving Sacha Baron Cohen and Eminem at the MTV Movie Awards was completely planned.

Comedy writing veteran Scott Aukerman wrote in a posting on his blog that the incident was staged and rehearsed in advance.

At Sunday's award show, Baron Cohen appeared in character as his gay fashionista Bruno. He fell on top of Eminem after being suspended above the crowd. The rapper appeared to find little humor in the stunt and stormed out.

Speculation was rampant over what was and wasn't real. Baron Cohen, Eminem and MTV have yet to comment on it.

Aukerman's posting has since been removed. His manager didn't immediately return a call Tuesday.

It was gross. Cohen is about as funny as they say, a rubber crutch in a polio ward. Eminem did not look amused and in fact was downright pissed. If both were in on it, then why pull the clip? All I can say is ick.

Whether it was staged or not (and in the end, who really cares?), it was indeed "effing funny."

It most certainly was worth the 5 minutes it took to find the scene on the video tape.

I thought it was hysterical. Cohen is a comic genius. I can understand why some people don't like his work, but he's the best of all time at slapstick pranks. The fact that he used Eminem for his gag was brilliant.

MNM and his people would not have agreed to this. Just think about it for a minute. MNM is a hard core homophobe one minute then he's willing to have a "gay Austrian Tbag him on World TV the next? What about his "street creds?" Stretching himself to perform with Elton is one thing but sniffin' rump is a whole different "ball" game.
Again, think about it, this sort of thing could ruin a rappers persona and career.

Exactly! There is no way Eminem would have done this knowingly. He loses ALL street cred on that. Every rapper in this country is laughing at him, and so are his fans. It was embarrassing and tooooo nasty to be staged.

Every guy I know said they would have been in jail that night because Bruno would have taken a beat down, accident or not.

There is ZERO chance that it was an accident, and I bet Eminem sues MTV. He has a new album released and there is no way that this incident does his album ANY good.

He isn't known for his humor or being seen as the clown to play along with a gag. He is too serious to do something like this (in particular noting how he feels about gay people, I really doubthe thought this seemed like a good way to get attention).

Mathers and his surrounding entourage saw this coming from above for at least 15 seconds as Cohen was slowly lowered down.
Yet during that time, and while the guy was on top of him, he made no effort to get away. Not until Cohen was hoisted off did he get up and go.

FFFF*ING hilarious. Cohen is a genius. He may be hetero, speaking as a gay guy, he's totally got the whole Gay Male Angelic Flying Sexual Fantasy Schtick down PERFECT. Gay culture is filled with these images of erotic semi-nudes flying like Icarus, or posing with industrial machinery, or morphed into some mythic fantasy demi-god. I love that Cohen has taken this silliness and turned it into a totally insane, outrageous spectacle. Just proof that Gay Power is not just for gays, although I can honestly say, there are probably three or four heterosexuals on earth with the gonads to pull it off.
