I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Obama Snl Impression

During NBC's special feature "Inside the White House," President Obama told Brian Williams that he wasn't that impressed with the impression of him by "Saturday Night Live"'s Fred Armisen:

"I don't watch SNL that often but I've seen a couple of the clips... Folks are still working on the rhythm of my voice, which I guess is a little bit unusual, but he seems to be starting to get it down a bit. The ears aren't quite as big on the show as they are in person. That's presumably a makeup situation they can do something about."

Later, he noted how strange it was to become a celebrity: "I never thought I'd have a bobble head."

"Alpha Cat" on U-Tube and on his Entertainment Tonight (appearances) does a better job of his impersonation in my opinion.

This is one of his funny videos.

Nothing gets past Obama. He caught that quip Brian Williams made about him kissing his wife in private and responded in smart fashion.

There's this Furniture Store in Canada that features an Obama impersonator that is almost dead on!

Here's the link:

Enjoy, Mr. President! :)

I think a funny SNL skit would point out that Obama's cadence never changes regardless of the emotion, situation, words, or thoughts he is conveying. It always remains the constant preacher's cadence....

He doesn't sound like a preacher to me. Probably not to you, either.

. . . vastly preferable to the constant idiotic cadence of his predecessor.

I think the only way to get Barack Obama's speech pattern down is to have some intelligent idea to convey, then you let your linguistic cortex process the idea into carefully chosen words, on-the-fly during conversation.

If you're using pre-composed lines, it's not going to have those pauses where the speech cortex is deliberating on the choice of words.

Wow...look at the big brain on Balzac. You seem really smart...the linguistic cortex theory makes so much sense. Seems obvious now that you pointed it out...

Glad you enjoyed the concept. There's another aspect to his style of speaking. Obama's mental coherence results in ideas worth saying with confidence.

There's a sense of conviction which you can hear by the way his sentences end. They end with finality. They end with a period, not an ellipsis. It's the way someone speaks when they're not filled with self-doubt.

It's also a patient style of speaking which is only achieved after you've become comfortable explaining things to people. It means you have enough people patiently listening to your ideas, that you speak with ease and confidence that you won't lose their interest or be interrupted.

Most people speak with eagerness to retain their audience, anxiety about being interrupted or contradicted.

Do the Obamas ever stop loving themselves?

Who cares, Obama, get back to work.

How's that two state solution coming along?

Unbelievable. Typed from the hands of someone who undoubtedly stroked GWB at every turn -- his interviews, his bluster, his semi-continuous time on his Texas ranch. At least we now have a President who can walk and chew gum -- and take on two wars, turmoil in Pakistan, North Korea, Somalia, crises in banking, unemployment, crumbling auto giant, energy, health care, etc., etc. without whining "It's hard work!". Just does his job -- cool, calm, collected, circumspect -- no bluster, no "bring it on," no "Mission Accomplished".

Quoting buzzrdstke below: "for all of those who hate.....look within yourself...what does this PRESIDENT reflect to you that you don't like about yourself?.....hmmmmm" -- perfectly captures the sour grapes reflected here, doesn't it?

Answer: he reflects all that our past failed politicians and policies lacked. Vision. Humility. Decency.

Whatever happened to the separation of church and state? Worship Obama if you will but don't force your beliefs on me. Is he better than Bush? Hell yah,...of course, Biden, Murtha, Barry Bonds, Miley Cyrus all would be better than Bush. Is he god like, not so much.

The impersonation would be better if they actually confronted Obama on any of his gaffs, mistakes, bad policies, or misgivings. Instead they always enhance the flaws of those surrounding him as if he cannot be criticized.

I am reading plenty of your posts everywhere. Is all you do post? Maybe read a book, and gain some common sense because all I hear is comments that lack it.

Obama's voice is very fluid with no specific faults ,it will take time before anyone sorts out the " funny" in his voice then everyone is going to do their Obama impression till we beg them to stop .

Obama said Fred was doing a pretty good job. But HP leaves that part out of the text above.

Loved the way that Brian Williams made a slight bow with head when he shook President Obama's hand at the end of the interview. That slight gesture showed respect for our President.

Fred's Obama is OK, but it's his governor Paterson that is truly, truly inspired.

I could watch that for hours!

"Huh, I never thought I would have a Bobble Head." - Even with an observation like that, he keeps it cool.
