I Like ItI Don’t Like It

On MSNBC's "Countdown" Monday night, Keith Olbermann argued that Fox News was partially responsible for the murder of Dr. George Tiller. He played clips of the network depicting Tiller as a baby killer and a Nazi, among other things. Olbermann called on viewers to not patronize businesses that show Fox News and to encourage their friends not to watch the channel -- "not so much a boycott here as a quarantine." The host pledged to take the first step and "retire the name, the photograph, and the caricature" of Bill O'Reilly from his own show.

Watch:

Bill O'Reilly has refused to apologize for his attacks on Dr. Tiller.

"When I heard about Tiller's murder, I knew pro-abortion zealots and Fox News haters would attempt to blame us for the crime and that is exactly what has happened," O'Reilly said. He claimed "everything we said about Tiller was true ... no back-pedaling here."

In regard to the murder of Dr. George Tiller, I think the following needs to happen:
First, some hot-shot lawyer needs to file a wrongful death lawsuit naming Bill O'Reilly, Fox News, and Operation Rescue as defendants.
Secondly, There needs to be a federal law enacted that outlaws the publishing, (in any form), the names, addresses, phone numbers, personal activities of others without their knowledge or permission. With much stiffer penalties for those who target individuals who may suffer direct harm from said publishing.
Let's face it, we are as a society, expecting instant gratification. Peaceful protest is not of the instant gratification variety, now is it?

Ok, first of all, that lawsuit is a joke. Secondly, you can't stop public knowledge from being published. It's only personal if there's no way to find it through some kind of public method. Why is no one actually blaming the shooter? You act as though he was fine one day, saw O'Reily and went ballistic. The guy had a history of violence.

Ok, I get it now. Let's make a law that no one can be critisized out of fear that someday they may be murdered and you can be held accountable for such death! Olbermann continues to prove himself not to be taken seriously, right along with Sean Hannity.

This was FAR more than just being "..critisized..", minister..this was outright incitement, repeated over and over by OhReally. As previously promised, here's that link to Faux's favorite mouthpiece, their 'representative', if you prefer, specifically targeting Dr. Tiller with vile hate-speech of the yellowest kind: http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2009/05/31/tiller/ ..every time the claim is made that OhReally and/or Faux 'aren't liable', I'll be happy to re-post evidence to the contrary..!

Actually I don't think it is FAR more. He had a harsh opinion but this wasn't incitement. Every serious pro-lifer in the country has known about Tiller for the last 30 years. The guy that shot Tiller belongs to a militia that doesn't recognize the United States Government.

OhReally is not liable for the murder of George Tiller.

FOX NEWS, the extreme right, the evangilists, and the republicans have turned themselves into ugly hatemongerers and nothing more! They promote the worst propaganda. This isn't the first time someone has been murdered because of their irresponsibility and non-journalistic, idiotic methods. They should be called THE NAZI NEWS NETWORK!

Olberman is completely right!! Fox News is dispicable and should go out of business or move to an Arab theocracy. They would all be placed in prison. What a wonderful thought!

It's going to kill Bill O not getting that extra attention from Keith's "worst person in the world" most every night. That horrible man thrives on attention, and it's going to be funny to see how he reacts to this boycott. Keith Olbermann is a true patriot and one of the best things that has happened to msm in years. I never miss his show.

Quarantine sounds good. Intellectually, Fox already is. When they exposed themselves this year as the heirs of Pravda and became the teabaggers' channel, Fox lost even the pretense of being a real news channel. Now they are like wrestling: an obvious joke, but with fakers so crazy, viewers can't help but watch them. Great job Keith. It's very sad that Dr. Tiller was murdered by a terrorist. The tragedy is furthered by the statements of mullahs and some pundits. Hopefully, Dr. Tiller's clinic will reopen soon. Rev. Bookburn - Radio Volta

I went to go see Terminator Salvation and they showed a tease for Glenn Beck's comedy tour. The whole theater groaned and booed. It was almost spiritual.

Aahhhhhhhhh the airwaves feel so fresh and clean without Fox. Breathe it in, I'm glad we've been quarantined.

What I also find odd is that on MSNBC Keith & Rachel had numerous guests on talking about this topic and not once did they mention that there is a GIANT difference between abortion and late-term abortion or that Tiller was one of three in the country crazy enough to do them.

Go away. No body likes you. You have a Bill O'Reilly-esque unnatural obsession with KO and Maddow and it is creepy.

You don't think the difference between abortion and late term abortion is something important enough to bring up?

He did late term abortion in cases where the mother's health was in danger, the fetus was horribly deformed, the pregnant female was a child who had been raped. . . that sort of thing.

He was one of the very few doctors who did this.

And what, pray tell, is the difference between an early abortion and a late-term abortion if the embryo has a soul right from conception and you consider it murder no matter when it occurs?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:52 PM on 06/03/2009

You are mistaken, they both talked about the entire issue and all of the types of abortion and why it is done. Rachel was very thorough on this topic, as always, and had several guests on her show several nights in a row discussing it. Of course, you must stick with your talking points, as the gop sees fit for you to do on their part. It's a shame that people like you and the gop feel it necessary to try to misinform the public whenever possible. Knowledge is power, and keeping the right wingers ignorant is the only way you guys work.

Dr. Tiller was a licensed physician who performed legal procedures for his patients. If you had ever had a friend or family member --as I have--who has had to make the terrible decision to abort a wanted child because that choice was more humane than to bring it to full term to suffer and die in its first moments or days or weeks of life, then you might have a different opinion about Dr. Tiller's work. While no one I know who is pro-choice considers him or herself to be pro-abortion, all of us on the pro-choice side recognize that sometimes life requires us to make very difficult decisions. I am grateful that Dr. Tiller and his colleagues refuse to be deterred from giving women who need their services the compassion and care that they need.

The next time you see that miasmal sack of pestilent vapors, Bill O'Reilly, pontificate sanctimoniously about morals and decency, think about what Andrea Mackris recorded him saying:

"During the course of O"Reilly"s telephone monologue on August 2 2004 he suggested that Palintiff Andrea Mackris purchase a v ibrator and name it, and that he had one shaped like a c 0 c k with a little battery in it that a woman had given him. It became apparent that the O"Reilly was mastrbting as has he spoke."

Why are you so obsessed with this twisted fantasy? You post it on every media thread! On October 13th, 2004 disgruntled emoloyee Andrea Mackris responded to an extortion suit filed by O'Reilly by countersuing O'reilly for sexual harassment. Immediately after O'Reilly's attorney insisted to have the tapes played in court, Mackris dropped all charges. Both parties agreed to cease and desist with their respective lawsuits and entered into a confidentiality agreement. Rumors persist that O'Reilly paid Mackris' legal fees in order to expedite the resolution, however, due to the confidentiality agreement that remains as pure speculation. In your last 25 posts 6 of them are virtually identical to the one above. I would imagine that many websites cater to these prurient interests, perhaps you might find one.

I agree with you that issue doesn't have anything to do with this one, but if there is a confidentiality agreement then you don't know what actually happened either.

Whatever motivation Fox News had in mentioning Dr. Tiller's name 29 times is outweighed by his right to privacy and personal safety knowing fully well that there are extremists out there. Indeed, why exactly did Fox News allow his name to be mentioned 29 times?
