The East Wing has not announced it, but First Lady Michelle Obama will head to Paris next week, after accompanying President Obama to Normandy to mark the 65th anniversary of the June 6, 1944 landing of Allied troops on French shores.

Sasha's birthday is June 10th. I can't even imagine spending my 8th birthday in Paris. I hope they don't just fly in and fly out, and hope they'll be able to let the girls explore a little before they have to go back. What a lucky little girl. My 8th birthday, and my 48th for that matter, paled by comparison!
Before the Repubs go wondering who's paying for the trip? Let me answer the question. My guess is it's probably the same folks who has been paying for that war in Iraq, every since Bush and Cheney deceided to tell us those lies so they could invade Iraq.
This should be nice for the girls. I'm only sorry the President won't be able to spend afew more days over there with them.
The George Pompedou Center could be her style. I'm not sure if the First Lady can do stuff like that.

They should just be careful to watch where they are stepping while walking the streets of Paris. My Parisian friends would always remind me when I visited.
Also, I'm just curious why Michelle didn't accompany him on the Middle East portion of the trip.
I venture a prediction that Michelle will not accompany POTUS on ANY trip to a conservative Islamic country for the 8 years (yea, I said it) that Obama will be in office. I can't see her wanting to be bothered about whether to cover up or not to cover.

How lovely! The girls are absolutely going to love Paris!! I bet the normally I'm-too-cool-to-be-bothered Parisians will be falling completely in love with the Obamas!
They should definitely take the girls to the Louvre and the Musee d'Orsay, and take pictures from the Arc de Triomphe (much better view than the Eiffel Tower and smaller lines - not that lines will be an issue for them, lol!). As for restaurant suggestions, I would recommend L'Arpege, which is somewhere in the 7th arrodisement. It's a truly sublime dining experience!

For a couple of days, you named it all. They probably will get boat tour. May even get to Versailles too. As for pics, I still liked Eiffel view more. There are lots of really bad restaurants in Paris - but that's for rushing tourists.

Why all the hubbub about the leader and his family traveling the world. This is part of her job description. At least when the Obamas travel it isn't back and forth each day to Crawford, Tx.
