I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Barack Obama

On the "Tonight Show" Tuesday Conan got a shout-out from President Obama via NBC's' "Inside The Obama White House" special with Brian Williams.

Conan showed a clip of Williams telling Obama that he'd noticed that his trip to the Middle East coincided with Conan's first week on the "Tonight Show." "Is It because of that or were there considerations perhaps that you almost canceled to stay and watch his first week as host of the 'Tonight show?" Williams then asked the president.

Obama answered by saying, in his best deadpan, that Conan "will do an outstanding job" and that he had discussed in the Oval Office "how to manage this transition between Leno and Conan." He did warn Conan, however, that there would be no bailout from Washington if he fails.

Finally, as Conan pointed out after the clip, it seems as if Obama almost forgets his name when saying "the transition between Leno and [pause] Conan." Tell us what you think: intentional or not?

At first I thought it was another Biden voice over, then I thought Holy Carp(sic) the actually had the President talking about Conan. I thought it was even funnier that he did forget the name.

I'm surprised the right wing haters haven't gone crazier about this one.
Obama is so in touch with the people. I can't imagine Bush- who claimed to never read the papers, and one would assume, like Cheney, only watched Fox "News"- to know what was going on in pop culture.

If Obama was in "in touch" with people he would understand that over 2/3rds of the people that voted for him want single-payer health care, need single-payer health care, and it's off the table. Watch Obama screw the people on health care. Single payer health care, Obama was for it before he was against it (2003). I voted for the guy, so I earned the right to criticize his policies.

I agree that those of us who voted for him have earned the right to criticize his policies ... but wouldn't it make sense to wait for the policy to be established before we criticize it! From what I'm reading and hearing, he hasn't even begun to work out his heathcare plan, so you're criticizing something that hasn't taken place - and as far as I can see, there's no indication that it will.

Also, from what I can recall, I don't believe that President Obama ever agreed to a single-payer health care plan. He said those Americans who have health care can keep it, but he wanted to provide an opportunity for Americans who do not have health insurance to be covered. If he was against the single-payer health care plan in 2003, then I can understand why it was not a part of his campaign platform in 2008 ... so what makes you think that in 2009, he'll seek to implement something he's already expressed opposition to? Or did you think that your vote for him would change his mind?

He's turning old already.
I cringe at the thought of what Hillary would have looked like by now.

On what basis do you make this statement about either one of them??? We're all "turning old" every day. That's the way it works.

If the media is "state run," what the hell happened to George Bush?
He didn't run "his" media very well. He allowed them sometimes tell the truth. And that did him in!

obama didn't forget conan's name; he had just said it two seconds before that, and i think his pausing was just a play on his usual pausing when speaking.

A shameless NBC plug for the Tonight Show. Obama is a good sport and was trying hard to make it seem like a serious interview and not smile or crack up.
