Parking Meter Company Hires Ex-Governor As Controversy Over Deal Heats Up

Former Illinois Gov. Jim Thompson said today that he and four other lawyers from the law firm of Winston & Strawn were hired this week by Morgan Stanley Infrastructure and Chicago Parking Meters LLC to "interact with the mayor's office, the City Council and the attorney general."

Jim Thompson needs to stop trying to "help" the citizens of Illinois. Everything he touches turns to mud. As governor, he emptied the state's mental hospitals to balance the budget. 30+ years later, we are still suffering from his decision.

How perfectly convenient for a former elected official to start acting on behalf of a private company against the interests of the citizenry. At least for Thompson, he can now do so in public, rather than clandestinely like the rest of our elected officials.
