This is a bland 4 door sedan, but intentionally so. It's aimed right at heart of the masses. It's the anti-Tesla.

It will cost $45,000 pre-tax breaks, and will get 100 miles per charge. It will take 6 hours to charge, which means in 2 hours it will be good for 40 miles. Says Miles CEO, Kevin Czinger, 100 miles will cover 90% of the drivers needs.

100 mi on a 6 hour charge is just not acceptable, especially for a $45k piece of equipment.

What do you mean, it's not acceptable? Don't like it, don't freakin buy it. For a commuter who lives in the city and does 20 miles each way daily and can leave it hooked up at night and rarely, if ever, goes on long drives (and realizes this is JUST a commuter) it's perfect.

It's not going to hit mass market penetration with those numbers and that price, but it's a start. If you care to overhaul the world with a brilliant idea, please get to it. Otherwise, stick to useful commentary, not knee-JERK reactions.

There will be plenty of customers who will buy this car at these specs and that price and will be content to bypass the gas station for a few years. I trust that the styling will come around in future versions.

I think the line "It's not going to hit mass market penetration with those numbers and that price" pretty much repeats the point I was making.

By your own logic by the way, the average commuter wouldn't be able to drive to work and back on their shorter 40 mi charge. So this pretty much requires you to charge it overnight and charge it every day. If you want to go to work and back twice, this might even be impossible on the longer charge. Yeah, I guess if you want to own another vehicle and then rotate based on the utility you need you could do that, but I think that 100 miles max under ideal conditions is just not enough for the average consumer's needs. Even if you only drove that far on the weekends, this vehicle would be useless then.

I would agree with Matt that 100 miles (which I would translate into 60-80 miles real wold) is not an acceptable performance. I have been in a situation in the US once where the next gas station was 60 miles away and where running out of fuel (in a Prius that can do 450+ miles on one tank!) was a close call. Now, that was our fault because we did rely on the car having such a good mileage... but imagine you are playing the "close call" game every day because your car does not have sufficient energy reserves AND you can't even quickly recharge because that would take an hour, at least, just for the next 10-15 miles... that's just not a winner for anybody who wants to go further than ten to twenty miles away from home. For many people that's the average distance when they go shopping on the weekend. I just don't see it. 150-200 miles on a charge? Maybe. Any less than that and it feels rather limited.
