Obama quoted the Holy Quran as commanding, "Be conscious of God and speak always the truth." He said he shared that conviction, as "rooted in my own experience." The president noted that while he now is a Christian, his father had come from a Kenyan family that "includes generations of Muslims."

Obama quoted the Quran. Let's see how the trolls can spin that.

The FUNDAMENTALS of most religions are the same: Love, forgiveness, honesty, patience, hope, faith.

Islam, in fact, recognizes Jesus as a prophet of God, and Jews as the people "Of the book"

But I'm sure the Republicans will have severe heartburn with Obama quoting "the enemy's prayer book" even if the bible contains identical-meaning precepts.

I can't wait. President Obama, like people in most parts of the world, understands that, regardless of your own religious belief or lack thereof, you must show respect to the religious beliefs of those whose country you are in. Most Americans have never traveled beyond these shores except as part of an Army, whether of military or business provenance, and do not understand that respect for others is the first step in seeking dialogue.
