This makes total sense. Rachel's is the only show that I can watch because it never disintegrates into the screaming that most other cable news shows do. Admittedly, most of Rachel's guests are left-leaning like she is, but whenever she disagrees with a guest she is always polite and then tries to attack their arguments.

Rachel's is a show that is a testament that political dialogue can be civil. Good for her.

Attack all things Republican all the time. Is it any wonder that Rach, Ed and Keith ratings are down? Who wants to listen to someone harp on the 'out of power' party? Re-think the formula MSNBC.

Good for her, she does seem to be the only cable news show who invites, and treats respectfully, guests with very different opinions to her own. She is genuinely curious and isn't afraid to use "big words" to show the complexity of issues.

Her program is kind of different, she really tries hard to tell the truth and bring the truth to news. Yeh!

I am happy for Rachel Maddow. Watch her program all the time. Keith Olbermann is my first priority followed by Maddow. She's smart as a whip and courtesy to her guests. I could care less what the TV critics say or who they nominate. Don't think they know very much that's for sure.

Good job, Rachel. It's about time we had some in-depth muckraking on cable news -- which is mostly just screaming headlines and manufactured drama.

No? Why not? She is truthful, honest about her personal biases, treats her guests with respect and is respected by them. There is no screaming and talking over guest's comments. She provides good reasoned information...kinda like journalism.

Maybe you just don't get cable?

Good for Rachel! She deserves it. She's one of the most intelligent women in broadcast journalism!

I'm not sure she is 'the most intelligent woman' in broadcast journalism. She knows how to sell her 'intellectualism'. It is also important to address that she is 'the most intelligent woman' in comparison to who/which female broadcasters? I know many graduate students who are far more knowledgable and intellectually rigorous than R. Maddow. The difference is that Maddow got her way to a TV studio while many many smart intelligent journalist did not. Is Maddow lucky in addition to be smart as expected? I don't know. But she is certainly not exceptional in terms of intelligence.

You sound like one of those extremely critical and rigid academics who dismiss all who don't completely agree with their sometimes idiosyncratic views. I know the environment since I'm part of it. You should realize that you can't judge Maddow's (or anyone else's) intelligence based on her tv show. It's a tv show marketed to an average audience, not a research project.

Do you think the blondes on fox are smarter? She trys to bring the truth to broadcasting, how many other do. Like all the talking heads that have let the Cheney's continually lie for the last month.

I like her show but by that time I am so burned out by Mathews/OIbermann that I don't feel like hearing the same news stories all over again.

I'd like to see her during the day. Maybe replacing that a$$ hat Joe of Morning Joe! Get rid of that Mika airhead too!

I quit watching Olberman...his show is too much formula at this point. And he and Rachel usually cover the same stories, so I just watch hers. One hour of TV news is enough for me (well, hour and a half when you count the Daily Show...which is often the best news on TV)

No she doesn't. At least you can tell her from all the other female journalists on TV. On the fox channel they all look alike.

Why? Maybe bleach her hair blonde, pile on scads of make-up, frilly her up? She is what she is a serious news commentator, do you ask men to pretty up?
