Alaska Lawmakers Have Votes To Override Palin's Stimulus Veto

Anchorage Daily News:

Legislative leaders say they appear to have enough votes to override Gov. Sarah Palin's veto of $28.6 million in federal stimulus money for energy cost relief. Alaska is the only state to have rejected these funds, and that's not sitting well.

"I would be surprised if we didn't override her," North Pole Republican Rep. John Coghill said Thursday.

Why take it if she ( Alaska) didn't need it?

The money was for energy and for most of this past winter the poor folks in these tiny villages were relying on charity for food, milk and heating fuel. She cares nothing about these people!

Sarah looks great for a woman 25 years past her so called 'prime'. Past her $150,000 wardrobe gift and $30,000 a month makeup tech she was rejected by the American population based on what she is known for; Her mega church witch doctor’s bizarre ranting, secessionist group ties and support, her secret pregnancy resulting tragically in a downs syndrome baby that got paraded around on stage by her 7 year old daughter, and her family values that resulted in an illegitimate grandchild to her 17 year old daughter Bristol while preaching abstinence only no less! Beyond even that Sarah’s public speeches and horrific pre-planned interviews showed her total lack of education, background and absence of governing capabilities intellectually or otherwise. In short she has become nothing more than a punchline. She only 'rejected' 2% of the stimulus that would go to the poorest folks in that welfare state to heat their homes. HELLO! Watch: She'll make a big to-do about refusing stimulus money to get the support of her conservative base ... then, when the stimulus money comes in anyway (due to congressional override), more jobs will be created, the people of Alaska see their situation improved -- and she will take credit for it! In 2012 she'll be saying "We created X number of jobs, began work on X number of projects, blah blah blah". The frustrating part is that her base won't see the hipocrisy. They never see the hipocrisy from one of their own, even if it is blaring like a siren. They only see "hipocrisy" from the Left, as is spoon-fed to them from their incredibly biased media.

I expect (and hope) that Axelrod, Plouffe, et al. are smart enough to show the general public exactly what she is doing. At any rate, if this last election has shown anything it is that getting support from your base isn't nearly enough to win an election. So, let her base love her all they want - she will NEVER see the White House!

I remember reading an article a few weeks ago about how the stim funds weren't reaching the states. The article somehow wanted to cast blame for the slow aid on the administrations lack of organization or efficiency. As I suspected more of the blame lye with those states attempting to use this as a political wedge and are causing their citizens undue stress or reduced quality of life. The incompetence that seems to have infused the republican party; as fully reflected in Sara Palin and those that support her has become like a wound that needs to be seriously addressed. While the intellect of the average American has risen in the last couple of decades the republican party seems to be of those that were left behind.
