Lance Armstrong's Baby Born: Max Armstrong Arrives!

Shortly before midnight EST on Thursday night, Lance Armstrong tweeted the news that he has a new baby boy, Max, with his girlfriend Anna Hansen.

Along with a photo, seen left, Lance twittered some details.

My name is Max Armstrong and I just arrived. My Mommy is healthy and so am I!

30 minutes later:

@maxarmstrong1 weighed in at 7lbs5oz and is 20 inches long.

The cancer survivor has three older children with his ex-wife Kristin. They were, as is documented in his autobiography "It's Not About The Bike," conceived using IVF and sperm banked before his cancer battle.

Max was conceived naturally.

With his genetic predisposition to cancer he should have not reproduced another child. The first 3 are one thing when one doesn't know one's genetic predisposition to cancer or some other genetic defect. this child after it is beyond well known that the chance would be high to pass on his faulty genes to the poor innocent kid though is inexcusable.

Oh, come on. We all contribute lousy genes to the gene pool. I inherited some birth defects that didn't show up in my parents & didn't show up in my daughter. Type 1 Diabetes runs in my family but not everyone has it, some do, some don't. It's all a crapshoot. Just because Lance Armstrong has had cancer, doesn't mean his son will. Most of the time, problems are not caused by genes but by bad lifestyle.

With our ever growing advancement in genetics, there are some really good probability formulas taking into account both parent's genetic predispositions. armstrong logically would be very high especially with the cocktail of genes contributing to suceptability to cancer being dominant and not recessive genes.

A few nations recommend genetic testing pre-marriage licenses now...Israel for example = Tay-sachs, so people can know that if their mate and they together will produce children with the disease or if one is a carrier of the genes then recommending that they find a Jewish mate without the genes , and there is one Mediterranean Isle where it is mandatory for genetic testing pre-marriage license or no license at all for the genetic markers for a particular strain of cancer prevalent within the isle community.

knowing that you might carry the genes for diabetes due to your family history should motivate you to get tested and if u do for sure then that should push you to find a mate without the genes. Otherwise you are selfish and cruel to your future descendants.

Humanity is at the point where it can take an active role in its evolution. the reverse also being true with devolution. The future gene pool will be dominated by stupidity, religious schizophrenia, cancer , diabetes, poor eye sight, etc

This is an absolute miracle. Someone who has survived testicular cancer and who abused his body with performance enhancing drugs is still able to conceive a naturally born child.

Come on guys. All babies are precious, and for many of the little angels, it takes a few days for them to get over the trauma of birth. It's not nice to take hard feelings out of this precious little baby, who did nothing to no one. It would be appropriate to just wish the baby and family well, and certainly no need to mock this little baby, and take bad feelings about the father out on him.

I'm glad that this precious angel was born healthy, and that mom is doing well. Congratulations mom and dad!
