Foul-mouthed reality TV chef Gordon Ramsay has shocked a public audience by vilifying a high-profile Australian journalist in an obscene, sexist rant at one point claiming she is a lesbian.

The putrid tirade against Tracy Grimshaw which included references to her looks and sexuality and depictions of her as a pig shocked audiences who went to see the celebrity chef at the Good Food and Wine Show in Melbourne, Australia.

The reason they don't is because actual real chefs have worked under chefs who did the same thing Gordon Ramsay does.

It's common in the chef's world especially the world class ones. You find a polite chef who never screams or yells at his workers when they screw up on stuff they should never have screwed up on you will also find the most awfull food imaginable as well as the most incompetant chefs.

He only yells when they mess up on stuff they should no not to mess up on.

True. Anyone that has worked in the upper level establishments can vouch for that. I had a chef throw steak knives at me once (I was the dishwasher and some came out of the machine dirty). The marks were still on the wall years later.

Gordon Ramsay has been well known for many years, so you have an interesting definition of "15 minutes". He is respected in the culinary world and although you may not like his shows, his demeanor is not uncommon in the realm of chefs. My understanding is that its just part of the industry and is fairly typical.

I used to think the same thing until I started watching his BBC shows. He's much more mature and to be honest very informative. I would put his "The 'F' Word" show up against any cooking show here. You kind of get him after watching that show.
In fact I am almost sorry for the American version of him. They completely exploit his boorish side which speaks to what we as American find entertaining.
That being said...he went over the handle bars on this one and deserve the beating...I guess
