I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Stephen Colbert, with a new crewcut, made a cameo appearance from Iraq in high school principal David St. Aubin's commencement speech to the 2009 graduating class of Goodrich High School in Michigan.

During his comments, St. Aubin, who was deployed to Iraq in December, paused to introduce a "special guest."

Colbert jumped out and enthusiastically shouted, "Congratulations, Class of 2009. Stay strong!" before high-fiving St. Aubin.

If you ever doubted the moral quality if this man you can see it right here. And the buzz cut is such a lovely gesture to the troops.

I WAS THERE! An 08 GHS grad, my brother was graduating this year. I was just thrilled to see St. Aubin on there, he's the man, but when Colbert appeared I nearly jumped out of my chair. Was already a huge, Colbert-quoting fan, but now he is my idol.

The place went crazy when St. Aubin appeared and went even more nuts after the special guest was introduced.

Kudos for Colbert. Papa Bear or cRutch wouldn't dare put their money where their mouth is for the troops by taking the risk he is, except if they were doing it only for themselves. "Somewhere in the Persian Gulf", indeed!

This is going to do so much for morale. Colbert has a way of really humanizing everybody involved. There are no political parties here. This is what it could be like if there were no attempts to polarize, only mutual respect and well wishes on the road ahead for all.

Well done Stephen and Lt. Col./Principal St. Aubin, now officially the coolest high school principal ever! Go Goodrich High Class of '09!!!!

He's becoming my favourite political pundit. Heck, he's been that for quite a while now.

And here he is, making the subtle point to all those right-wing haters out there that you can be resolutely anti-war, but enthusiastically pro-USA, and pro-troops.

Brilliant.

He's still sporting that red "wrist awareness" bracelet even overseas. He knows the definition of perseverance when it comes to long-running gags.
