New York Times:

WASHINGTON President Obama was getting his daily economic briefing one recent morning when a fly distracted him. The president swatted and missed, just as the pest buzzed near the shoes of Lawrence H. Summers, the chief White House economic adviser. "Couldn't you aim a little higher?" deadpanned Christina D. Romer, the chairwoman of the Council of Economic Advisers.

Should we be congratulatory to Larry Summers, the bailout schemes, or the NYT?; this is a fluff piece, the NYT has no relevance. Meanwhile speculation, usury, forced trade, perpetual war, low/no wages, unemployment in the millions, outsourcing of industry and jobs, cost cutting in medical services, cartelization of food and industrial production, is the fuel and priorities of the monetary financial derivative debt based global economic collapse. This economic engine is accelerating the contraction of the population's capacity to sustain itself. Larry and colleagues are busy re-inflating the collapsed monetary financial bubble and cost cutting medical services in the Medicaid system to ensure profits to the HMO Insurance companies. They are a team of sociopaths. Put the Fed into bankruptcy, create the U.S. National Bank. Credits and currency will be issued into the population's physical economy. Confront the unemployment ; Jobs and purchasing power will be introduced into the economy. Stop the foreclosures. Enact the Homeowners and Bank Protection act. Start the construction of 100 Nuclear generation and distribution systems, mass transportation systems. Food, water, and energy production must be maintained and increased wherever possible. the citizenry must remind our political leadership of their responsibilities to the population not the parasites.

They lack empathy. There is a term for that. Socio path. We are being ruled by a bunch of socio paths, give or take. Repugs, Dems, the same.

Ever notice everytime Obama has a successful overseas trip the NYT and other media outlets begin the next week with tails of Obama's Whitehouse in turmoil, potential downfalls, polls down, tensions, dramas, and the like. it is all a part of the media selling a thickening plot line that doesn't exist. I wish they would spend their time talking about the tensions families are feeling over choosing between homelessness and bankruptcy or paying for healthcare cost for sick loved ones. Or how about the families and indivduals who have had loved ones die because insurance companies refuse to provide life saving care to them. I guess that's not quite as interesting as tension and fly swatting on the economic team. Hmph...what a joke!

these folks need to quit WHINING!!! If you are the TEAM--act like it--or resign (or even commit suicide??-kidding). The President KNOWS what can and will be accomplished--and how he wants it done. If there are some on the staff who believe there is a "better" way, let him/her run for POTUS in 2012.!!

There's something mentioned in the end of the article where I have to completely agree with Summers:

Health care reform will absolutely be great for American businesses, not only domestically but global competitiveness. This is a HUGE talking point for several reasons. Number one it is absolutely true. Number two it appeals to those on the opposite side of the debate. Number three, with the previous two reasons why the heck wouldn't you want to include this talking point?

Just thinking out loud here people somebody enlighten me.

Well, you have to deliver before you get the talking point (unless you're a republican) so there's a pretty good chance they'll never get to brag about this.

pragma -- you mean the U.S. gets with the program and delivers health CARE, not "for-profit insurance", for its workers, as the rest of the world does, thereby eliminating what hinders the GMs and other corps from competing fairly in the global market place? So that US workers aren't enslaved to their companies for health benefits, so that they get what the rest of the world gets from outside the workplace, as a GIVEN? A human right?

Another alleged fact filled article by that bulwark of Republican talking points - the NYT. It has turned into one of those yellow press publications that is going into the debt ridden toilet. I imagine in a few years you will be able to buy the NYT renamed as the New York Screamer at the check out counters of stores like Target and Wall Mart.

It is nice to read the NYTs fictions spiced up with a sophmoric grasp of how decisions are actually made, in particular what kind of process goes into how decisions are made in a team.

More to the issue, if there is not a lot of cognitive conflict going on in a team - the team is in deep doo-doo. It is little more than a hub-and-spoke team, each member trying to please the President.

Well, the President DOESN'T WANT THAT! No groupthink here! President Obama wants the sides to debate each and every point while avoiding personality clashes and personal friction otherwise called "affective conflict".

NYTs do your homework. The Presiden't team has all the signs of doing things right!

Washington Post coverage of same events just as vapid and simplistic. They think the people are stoopid.

Just the fact that they still refer to Larry Summers as brilliant gives the lie to this entire piece.

We are seeing the effect now of many of the economic policies he helped to create and actively promote and implement during Clinton's terms that are causing the disintegration of our economy.

Whether the headline is typically NYT hyperbole or not, continuing to paint any of these people as genuises will only prevent progress, not encourage it.

Brilliant he may be but he uses his brilliance in his own self-interest and those of others in the banking and finance upper strata. Major conflicts of interest.

The entire group should be fired. Obama must be daft to think the past follies still work for the good of society.

Put the criminal Paulson, Summers, Geithner, Bernake in prison.
