WASHINGTON — Former first lady Laura Bush says she's pleased that President Barack Obama nominated a woman for the Supreme Court.

"I think she sounds like a winner and a good nominee," Bush said of Sonia Sotomayor, the federal appeals judge Obama picked.

Mrs. Bush said in an interview broadcast Monday on ABC's "Good Morning America" that "as a woman, I'm proud that there might be another woman on the court. I wish her well." She was interviewed in Dallas, where the Bushes moved after their White House tenure.

On another subject, Mrs. Bush said her husband will have no comment on any Obama decisions. He feels that as a former president, "he owes President Obama his silence on issues and there's no reason to second-guess any decisions he makes," Mrs. Bush said.

No one really needs to say anything bad about Dumbo, his actions speak for him. 1) Quadrupled the debt in 4 years, 2) Unemployment up 2 percent since Jan, 3) Stimulus jobs are temp jobs and will go away when they either waste the money with cost on runs or finish the job, then those hired will be layed off, the states do not have the budget to make them full time position. 4) did not read the bill before he signed it said that unemployment would hit 8 percent without it and would stay at 7 percent with it. 5) Printing up money like it is play money 2 trillion just this year, inflation coming. 6) has to borrow 1 trillion 200 billion more for the year, 7) pressures the bankruptcy courts to favor the unions unsecured creditors over the secured bond holders.

Forget the 8 years ..... All these things you named are to fix your parties MESS ..... you know the party of "FISCAL CONSERVATISM" .. LMAO ... defend Dubya still .....

p.s Obama did not run on Fiscal Conservatism & Small Government .... it was your party that did in 2000 & 2004 ..... you folks had full control for 6 years ... the last 8 years can attest "Fiscal Conservatism" & "Small Government" was just campaign rhetoric ... why would people elect you again ...????

Stay in the wilderness ... We Liberals will make sure people never forget ....

As I always say .. "You let conservatism succeed ... you end up with fa ilure" .. the last 8 years can attest to that ...

No they never had full control the dems had over 40 senators from 2000 to 2006 and could have filibustered any bills but they did not every bill except the tax cuts which where pushed thru by reconciliation. Every other bill they could have filibuster and held them up but did not they supported all the spending and from 2006 to now the dems had control of thew house and senate and the y wrote the bills.

If you are feigning ignorance as to who Dumbo really is, then you're actually dumber than you really seem here.

What Bush did he did with congress support including the dems, Bill and Hillary said Iraq had WMD, so did Kerry, Edwards, Liberman and others. Also they found chemical plants and weapons which are WMD. if you have not been over there, then you do not know what you are talking about. I was over there served in the navy for 20 years and have friends that are still there. The women are free and so are the surving Kurds. Look at Kuwait they just elected 4 women to serve as politcans.

Clearly, George is now convinced he was used. Laura probably knew it all along. Hubris being what it is, George probably believed his own hype. Very sad. But, for a President to have an MBA and not notice that the economical and financial base of the country was spiraling downward, is really kind of unacceptable. This was one area one would have thought he might have had some expertise over Cheney. Maybe the guy bluffed his way through all of his education, bluffed his way through his many misadventures in business, and bluffed his way through the Presidency. After a "Series of Misfortunate Adventures", he really hit the big time.

Just so you know the economy was up for the first 6 years he was in office, and the housing bubble was covered up by Franks and Waters and other dems on those boards. Also he is showing class by not saying anythin g and helped Obama during the transistion which Clinton did not do.

Bush didn't win the election fairly .. why would Clinton help him ... he was an illegitimate President-Elect ...

Bush was a Pu.p.pet ... Cheeeney was pulling the strings ....

Just as it takes an uptick in the economy to reach us "everyday folk", just the opposite happens in a downturn. We got it first, and the big guys got it last. The GOP, being the out of touch group that it is, didn't stop to notice everyday people being hurt. They noticed when the big banks fell, because it then affected THEM. That's why they are trying to accuse Obama of socialism now, so they can get their little greasy paws on those companies.

the "housing bubble was covered up by Frank and Waters" - that is the dumbest statement I have ever heard. The people with the access to the information necessary to determine if a housing bubble existed are real estate experts and economists not House members.

And before you get to it, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were not even among the top 25 institutions who offered subprime loans. Quit spouting fantasy-bad GOP talking points!

Too bad the former VICE-president doesn't feel the same way. I could definitely do without his incessant bleating about the "dangerous" decisions of our current government and his craven attempts to cover his criminal behind while blithely revising history. Enough already!

She usually kept her mouth shut, from embarrassment. That's all you can say about her. Don't revise history because of one recent positive statement. She should have spoken up back when it counted.

Interesting, and quite classy. And I'll have to admit, it has been good that her hubby has kept quiet, so I'll thank him for that.

Whereas my buddy Bill Clinton cannot ever seem to put a sock in it. And I say that as a Bill fan.

It might be a good idea to learn how to spell Cheney's name before you post. It's difficult to criticize politicians like Bush who fumble the names of world leaders if we can't get names right ourselves. And yes, Bill was a great President.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:03 PM on 06/08/2009

My memories are long. Bill was an egotistical bottom feeder who couldn't keep it zipped up. Yes, the economy was good when he left office but that doesn't excuse his shallow moral character.

Isn't it refreshing having a president who is both smart and moral? (Yes it is)

she was not responsible for any of what happened under her husband's watch.
but for her, it had to be very difficult. He also refused to let her be interviewed until the last few months.
She came out early in 2001 as a pro-choice advocate. He clamped that down quick. sigh.
Its understandable she is looking a little rough around the edges.
life with an ego man.iac/m.oron will do that to you.
