I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Tony host Neil Patrick Harris had big shoes to fill following past host Hugh Jackman, but he did an admirable job, culminating in an end-of-show song recapping the previous three hours, sung as the credits rolled.

If you missed the show, here is an awards recap (Billy Elliot ruled) and here is video of Bret Michaels missing his mark and getting decked by a stage curtain during a musical number.

Best Tony host in a while and one of the best Tony Award Ceremonies too. I wonder how they are going to top next years.

NPH was on Broadway in Sondheim's "Assassins." He was also in a production of "Rent," which I think was in LA, but I'm not sure (someone check me on that). Anyway, he's been flexing the golden pipes for a few years now, as well-kept secret to TV audiences.

I agree that he was an awesome host. He was very funny and he kept the show moving. The song at the end was priceless. I love when he says, "Credits won't stop me!"

He was in Rent in San Diego when the Globe put it on, though I think it went to LA afterward.

He's also Dr. Horrible in Joss Whedon's "Dr. Horrible" web musical.

A friend wants to have a "Whedon Musical Revue" at ComicCon with "Once More With Feeling" from _Buffy, the Vampire Slayer_ and _Dr. Horrible._ They'd sell out.

Loved him in the Whedon brothers' "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog"!!!! He gave me my two favourite quotes of the year:

"The world is a mess and I just need to rule it!" and "What a crazy random happenstance!"

Hilariously funny and talented guy.

This guy made my middle school and high school a living he!!! Everyone thought I resembled Doogie Howser MD. Playing basketball chants of "Doogie, Doogie., Doogie" enveloped the gym. That was a traumatic moment in my warped life.

If you had embraced it instead of rejecting it, you could have become "The Doctor" to all the ladies, especially since this was long before he came out of the closet!

Neil Patric Harris has the best job ever. Bet you he doesn't have to deal with the annoying crap like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKZapQ5YV74 Yeah, that's why I'm used to.

Can't we just forget sexuality for ten minutes, and admire people for what they have to give talentwise. I think this is the first time that NPH has had a chance to display his talent to its fullest on TV. He was great.

Why? Half the lyrics of the last song were about performers being gay, the Tony's being gay and him being gay. We'll give it a break if he does, how about that? Or was how he was "off to hit some big Tony balls" a little too subtle for you?

Come on. Why would you say that. Adam Lambert. Really? The two can't even be placed in the same category.

They both already have partners...and a female friend of mine has kinky fantasies about riding a Ferris wheel with all 4 of them.

NPH blew me away last night! I never dreamed he had such a good voice and pleasant demeanor. He was the perfect host and the Tonys are remiss if they don't have him back next year! Bravo, Doogie!

I agree. His over the top singing, at the end was hysterically enjoyable. Everything you could expect from a stage musical. Everyone should see one.

Saw him on Broadway a number of years ago in Assasins. He was great in the role and has a very good voice. The scene in the musical (yep...a musical about the assasination/attempted assasination of US Presidents!) where the Zupruter film of JFK being shot was projected onto his white T-shirt was one of the most riveting I have seen on Broadway. Great job!!!
