Talking Points Memo:

It's primary day in Virginia, where the state's Democrats are set to pick from three candidates for governor: State Sen. Creigh Deeds, who is now the frontrunner in all the polls; former state Del. Brian Moran; and former DNC chairman Terry McAuliffe, the colorful personality who campaigned for so long on Hillary Clinton's behalf, later became the frontrunner in this race for quite a while, but may have now blown it.

Time for Terry to go away. We democrats have now ended the era of the DLC. He was a political operative linked to big corporate interests. Va voters, we owe you one. Thanks

Is he going to have to get a real job now, or will he be a lobbyist?

McAuliffe overplayed his hand with HRC and his nastiness and lies are still hanging out there pulling him down.

This isn't the end for Terry McAuliffe. He will be back like a case of herpes or gangrene.

I'll never forget Terry all sauced up on tequila the day of the Puerto Rico primary blabbering on television.

Moran sent my mostly African American neighborhood a sleazy campaign postcard with a quote reading, "Kiss My A, Barack Obama" - and then in the tiniest possible font, "Terry McAuliffe on The Daily Show, June 3, 2006". Watch the clip - you see he was actually joking with Jon Stewart, who was berating him as Barack Obama in a bit. Moran, who has never been to my neighborhood, is cheesily surrounded by African Americans in a photo montage, and his image is superimposed over Obama's. Also on the card is "Endorsed by Black Women for Obama". I called Democrats I know who live in "White" neighborhoods, and none received the postcard, but everyone I know who lives in mostly Black neighborhoods received one. Racial profiling, much, Mr. Moran? I guess Black people don't watch Comedy Central, or understand comedy. Guess Black people won't do their own research. There was a conversation about it at our civic association meeting, and I can point to about 150 "Black People" who will not be voting today for Mr. Moran.

What's ironic is the sleazy, racial campaign Moran's run, and how he's used the image of a President who shied away from using racial divisions to win the office, while styling himself as an Obama-type politician.

Deeds is too weak to beat McDonnell, as he's already proved, and can't raise the money needed to fight him. McDonnell's contributions are at $9 million.

That is an absolutely appalling story & I am grateful that you shared it. I don't know if Deeds is too weak to beat McDonnell, but I think he's are only option. I hope you voted for him.

Terry McAuliffe is just too slick & too much of a true behind-the-scenes politician for me.

Whew what a sigh of relief !!!! .................... ANY ONE BUT TERRY McAULIFFE.

Karma is a B**ch ................ Terry is reaping what he sowed ............... Many still have not recovered from his nastiness during the primary.

Sorry Bill .............. We know that you were OBLIGATED, but you backed the wrong horse.

I hope this is the end of McAuliffe's career, but I wouldn't bet on it.

As long as the Clintons have power, he will be bouncing around the sidelines, looking for an opening to get him back in the political scene.

I certainly hope so. . McAuliffe's tenure with the DNC was followed by one failure after another. I'll never forget his interview after one particularly miserable mid-term election. . when asked what happened - on national TV - he said, "I just don't know, I had no idea this would happen.". . . I remember thinking, "Terry, it's your JOB to know what happened - if you don't, you should be fired.". . hopefully, that has now happened.

he's gotta have pictures of somebody doing something, cause he has absolutely no talent, no vision other than some idea that he could parlay his Clinton connections into a cushy job. .

lightweight. his non-gravitas persona hurt hillary. though i am glad that it did, in many ways. without him, maybe we don't have Obama.

Just like...what's his name...Mary Matlin's husband. These three, along with Lanny Davis, need to desert the Democratic party forever.

As it is turning out, Hillary might well have been a better choice than Obama...he gives a great speech, looks good, and young people love him, but he has yet to do anything that is good for the average American......he has, however, given trillions to pals on Wall St, hired their pals, increased money to religious organizations, done nothing about don't ask, rubber stamped the Bush era practices, endorsed a few liberal ideas but in word only.....at least Hillary defied the congress and initiated granting domestic partner rights to the State Department employees.....

* He has yet to do anything that is good for the average American.... *

It's obvious what you pay attention to, Montgriz!

He's done nothing for the average American except credit card reform, the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, continued health insurance for 6-7 million children and covering 4 million more, the Fraud Enforcement & Recovery Act which gives the federal government more tools to crack down on fraud from predatory lending practices to Wall Street manipulation, the Helping Families Save Their Homes Act which prevents foreclosures, plus allocating funds for neighborhood stabilization, helping low income families save on energy bills with the Weatherization Assistance Program, increased Social Security, more TANF money, higher and longer unemployment compensation, and that's just for starters so you are determined to remain ignorant about what's going on, probably because like your man, El Rushbo, you want the president to fail - but alas, he is succeeding brilliantly!

"Dont ask ,dont tell" is a toughie no matter who was elected President . I believe the President sincerly wants to throw it out but he is up against the tough ultra-conservative military brass who wants it to remain. We have to thread lightly, make changes gradually,it will happen. Patience please.

Tsk tsk.. Me thinks you have perhaps been listening to a little Fox. BTW, ''might have been'' is just that. I might have been a neo-con, but I'm not. You might have been a person who thinks for himself, but you're not. Maybe you're not the average American because that's the group that elected the president. Get over it.

This clown wouldn't shut his hole for a second in the primaries.
Good bye.
