I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Fresh off making headlines for calling President Obama a "false prophet" at a GOP fundraiser, actor Jon Voight appeared on Bill O'Reilly's show Tuesday night to continue pressing his case against Obama.

After a quick name-checking of Julius Caesar--as in Obama thinks he is a "soft-spoken Julius Caesar"--Voight got down to business, making the case that Obama is "a fellow who's bringing us to chaos and socialism." [scroll down for the transcript.]

O'REILLY: Wow!

Here now, Mr. Voight.

So what -- what is your essential beef, when you just cut down -- it

was a long speech you gave -- with President Obama?

Story continues below

What -- what's the main complaint?

VOIGHT: Well, it is essentially this, Bill, if I had to break it

down. We were warned by Hillary Clinton that he had no experience, that

he had no qualifications. We were warned by his now vice president, Joe

Biden, he had no experience. So he was a novice.

And now we're getting what we could have expected, if we had

listened. We have a fellow who's bringing us to chaos and socialism.

O'REILLY: I don't see any chaos. In Iraq he's pretty much doing

what Bush did. He's keeping the soldiers there. There may be chaos

when we start to withdraw, but right now it's...

VOIGHT: The chaos I'm speaking of is economic chaos.

O'REILLY: OK. But let's stay -- let's stay with foreign policy and

we'll get into...

VOIGHT: OK.

O'REILLY: ...because you made some points about Julius Caesar, wants

to convince the world. Obviously, you feel he's naive and idealistic.

VOIGHT: Well, I feel he's weak.

O'REILLY: You feel he's weak?

VOIGHT: Just exactly why we have this muscle-flexing from Korea.

Nothing's happening. They...

O'REILLY: What would you do, though?

I mean, you know, we've talked this over. It's a very tough

situation in Korea.

VOIGHT: Well, this is -- there must be a response.

O'REILLY: What kind of a response?

VOIGHT: Well...

O'REILLY: See, now we're getting into a really tough area.

VOIGHT: No -- are you -- do I have the experience to say something

that deeply needs to be said?

I have a, you know, a head on my shoulders, and I can think of a few

things. But certainly they should be let to know that there are going

to be consequences.

If this was really the full extent of his interview, pathetic! A keynote GOP speaker, another cheap slogan shouter!

Just as American Capitalism discredited, American/Bush concept of strength discredited. President Obama has real strength and experience, Jon’s shallowness is incapable of even beginning to understand it. He complains about N. Korea muscle flexing and in stunted fashion wants the US to flex a bigger. Let him go to Angelina and learn to live life at some deeper level.

Anytime the government does anything for the masses, it is objectionable socialism? That is what government is there for, then long live socialism! How little does this little GOP poster-boy understand about life and real human affairs! America’s vicious capitalism is already discredited.

Jon and his pipsqueak GOP home boys are concerned that there way of looting America for themselves is being disrupted. Let him run his views by Angelina, he can come back to the public forum if he can get past her! After all she is the one exerting the greatest influence on people in our times, is the beloved of them all. Not short statured Daddy boy, who does not have any life maturity to even begin comprehending the kind of real strength that the President’s deep ways represent.

Jon is a joke, even as we know and see the entire GOP/cons clowning around as headless juveniles.

I wish that Voight was correct about Obama bringing us Socialism, but I'm afraid he's wrong.

Jon Voight must get his information and opinions from the same source as Gov. Palin.
Better stick to the (mostly) well-written scripts that help make you such a good actor - improvisation is clearly not a strong point.

all this talk about socialism is nonsense- during the Bush years, the confluence of government and corporations defined fascism but this was never mentioned. it should be pointed out, however, that the 'socialist countries' in the developed world have lower infant mortality rates, longer life spans, and a generally healthier population than in the US.

Other than name calling and unsupported assertions, did Mr. Voight say anything of substance?

Given that he is a republican and supported McCain/Palin, I would think it is pretty much impossible that he had anything of substance to say.

Oh lets listen to the silver spoon actor who wants to keep the Bush Tax cuts. Why would HE want to HELP the 40+ MILLION Americans struggling below the poverty level when his Republican Party can give billions Corporate Welfare to the Multi-National Coporations and WAR PROFITEERS... I didn't hear him complain about THAT!

I SAY ANY MOVIE THIS @$$HOLE IS IN WE BOYCOTT...

I'll bet if you zoom in on the space between Jon Voight and Bill O'Reilly you'll find antimatter.

That was 39 seconds of unsupported opinion, and we all know what opinions are like.

Fer sure Mr Voight.

The president wants chaos and Marxism.

Hopefully the Democratic Party will go the way of the Whigs because of this attempt by Obama (and Rahm Emanuel) to destroy America.

The Obama administration's first few months already provide compelling evidence of the enormous costs of embracing the alternative worldview of the European and American left. That was equally true when the Bush administration all-too-frequently deviated from conservative precepts, especially in its failure prone second-term. Unfortunately, the Obama administration is a continuation of the second Bush term

Jon has been dropped on his head about as many times as Gary Busey and has nothing to recommend himself as a political expert save his fathering Angelina Jolie, who despises him.
He is a limited, mediocre, character actor. He has no personal life. He is a cipher.

I guess Jon Voight think he would make a better president! All these people criticizing our President have no idea what it's like to be President and what you have to deal with. I would urge all thes media, pundits etc. to be careful of their criticisms because I don't think they could do any better. Very few people can even run a successul campaign to even win the white house--let alone govern the country. Let's give our President a chance to make the changes he needs to make.

Think about everything he has been dealt. I'm certain when he announced his candidacy, he didn't anticipate a quarter of what is now on his plate. All things considered, he's doing "a heckuva job."

Excuses and blame are the very thiings that enable our government to continue to fail us. Bush brought us to chaos, not Obama. And Obama has very experienced people around him who are educating him about everything he needs to know.

We are a government of the people ---if the people would get more involved. Whatever happens in our country, the buck stops with us.

Those who buy into all the blame and excuses about why our government has gotten us into such messes on every front are the same ones who open the door and lay out the red carpet for more of the same. Any government that is able to deliver wars and bailouts can also deliver for the people---especially if the people make it clear by voting out those that don't.

Accountability and results are all that matter. No more excuses and no more blame.

You missed the main point: Bush and Obama are on the same team: The Council on Foreign Relations team. Neither are members of it but both are run by its handlers: Joe Biden and Dick Cheney.

You kid yourself if you think either main party leaders (outside of Ron Paul) gives a hoot about America.

If you are a democrat or a republican you are part of the problem.

The CFR runs America and its goal is the dissolution of the nation state. If it can springboard off of economic catastrophe, that works too.

Most Americans wouldn't even know what a socialist was even if one jumped out of the dunny and bit them on the a.s.

Jesus wasn't a socialist.

And the reason why Americans are accepting socialism is because you are correct, they don't know what one is.

You don't know what Jesus was and if he was alive he would be a socialist. We have some principles of socialism now. Social Security and Medicare. I think Americans like what they have now just fine. Please stop projecting.

Angelina,

I know you don't talk to the guy and I can see why. Amazing you are working in an alley somewhere after having that guy as a father, but...

Could you do us all a favor. Speak to him, if only just once, and deliver this message...

Dude, you are a washed up old actor who was such a _________ father that we won't even let you see your grandkids....even if you think you are right about what you are saying....

Maybe not the best messenger, eh?

"Dude, you are a washed up old actor who was such a _________ father that we won't even let you see your grandkids...."

I'm sure she doesn't want her grandkids infected with all that cr@p. I wouldn't want my kids hanging with someone as hateful as that, either. Now that I think about it... if my mother knew that I was being exposed to someone like that, she would have yanked me away as fast as she could. I imagine that there are mothers that would think differently, which is real sad.

In any case, I wonder how Angelina was able to get away relatively unscathed? There must be a story there. I would like to hear her side, as well as his. That would be interesting as all get out.
