I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Fresh off making headlines for calling President Obama a "false prophet" at a GOP fundraiser, actor Jon Voight appeared on Bill O'Reilly's show Tuesday night to continue pressing his case against Obama.

After a quick name-checking of Julius Caesar--as in Obama thinks he is a "soft-spoken Julius Caesar"--Voight got down to business, making the case that Obama is "a fellow who's bringing us to chaos and socialism." [scroll down for the transcript.]

O'REILLY: Wow!

Here now, Mr. Voight.

So what -- what is your essential beef, when you just cut down -- it

was a long speech you gave -- with President Obama?

Story continues below

What -- what's the main complaint?

VOIGHT: Well, it is essentially this, Bill, if I had to break it

down. We were warned by Hillary Clinton that he had no experience, that

he had no qualifications. We were warned by his now vice president, Joe

Biden, he had no experience. So he was a novice.

And now we're getting what we could have expected, if we had

listened. We have a fellow who's bringing us to chaos and socialism.

O'REILLY: I don't see any chaos. In Iraq he's pretty much doing

what Bush did. He's keeping the soldiers there. There may be chaos

when we start to withdraw, but right now it's...

VOIGHT: The chaos I'm speaking of is economic chaos.

O'REILLY: OK. But let's stay -- let's stay with foreign policy and

we'll get into...

VOIGHT: OK.

O'REILLY: ...because you made some points about Julius Caesar, wants

to convince the world. Obviously, you feel he's naive and idealistic.

VOIGHT: Well, I feel he's weak.

O'REILLY: You feel he's weak?

VOIGHT: Just exactly why we have this muscle-flexing from Korea.

Nothing's happening. They...

O'REILLY: What would you do, though?

I mean, you know, we've talked this over. It's a very tough

situation in Korea.

VOIGHT: Well, this is -- there must be a response.

O'REILLY: What kind of a response?

VOIGHT: Well...

O'REILLY: See, now we're getting into a really tough area.

VOIGHT: No -- are you -- do I have the experience to say something

that deeply needs to be said?

I have a, you know, a head on my shoulders, and I can think of a few

things. But certainly they should be let to know that there are going

to be consequences.

Mr Voigt I will welcome chaos and socialism over this.
That a nation grandiosely referring to itself as the world’s lone ‘superpower’ would, on the basis of very thin manufactured evidence stoop to such behavior as using sodomy (even against innocent children), cramming people into coffin-like boxes, chaining them in stress positions, karate-kicking them (even to death), suffocating them, slamming their heads into walls, taking away their clothing, freezing them, using sensory deprivation and drowning, plus a hundred other cruel measures gives the lie to that assertion. An evil power, certainly. Hardly a ‘shining city on a hill’.

I too dislike actors or actresses contributing their thoughts on politics. Its often an act, which is what they do. However, Voight made some valid points. BHO was and is inexperienced. He was a two bit player as a community activist, he barely showed up in his political career to vote "present" because he didn't have a clue, he has never run a business, and he is now showing that he really doesn't have a clue. He is weak on the international front, is creating HUGE debt that is strangling our country, and we are faced with increasing inflation. All because he speaks well to audiences. Maybe he should have been an actor instead of a president!!!

I couldn't get over Russel Simmons appearing on CNN yesterday to give his praise and criticisms of Barack Obama. His ex-wife also wrote an article on Huffington post. I don't recall these two getting into politics. Also, Usher is trying to align himself with the administration. What I'm noticing as a black woman is that it is quite a possibility that Obama is "stealing the thunder" from under the celebrity status of alot of these black actors and musicians. Therefore, they are trying to align themselves or speak about politics so they can get themselves back in the spotlight the way Obama is. I'm sure they are jealous of the attention he gets, the salutes by the military, the overall importance that is shown to a sitting President threatens them so some of them are trying to get involved in politics as well. I know Tavis Smiley is pissed off--he made this known during the campaign. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are probably jealous as well.

So cynical!

What about them experiencing "a great awakening" - as opposed to assuming basic malafides. Nothing wrong with people aligning themselves with a noble cause.

Watching Tavis Smiley, et al, make fools of themselves over Barack was truly a delight - now I'm even more delighted to watch them "rehabilitate" themselves.

If he's so inexperienced, how was he able to outsmart the more seasoned politicians and win the Presidency. You people don't realize this. I think he's doing a wonderful job.

From BHOfedup. He didn't outsmart the politicians. He is just a puppet for the left and really doesn't know what he is doing. Check back in six months and see if you still think your idol is doing a "wonderful" job. Do the words, Unintended Consequences, mean anything to you. It will!

What on earth are you talking about? Obama has done incredible things since taking office.

His 'talk' is changing elections in Lebanon, for the better.

Maybe you should stop looking for actors like they are leaders. Regan was horrible you know.

Jon Voight is getting on in years now, and doesn't have very much to do. He hasn't been offered any movie roles for awhile now. He can't play with the grandkids, because daughter Angelina won't let him...So, what else can he do, but TALK ABOUT POLITICS.

THERE ARE SENIORS CLUBS JON !

I'm curious as to what Anjelina Jolie's political views are. I know she adopts needy kids but, man, her dad is whacked out. I've frequently enjoyed watching him as an actor but I'm a little disappointed in his depth of thought. He is, at least, intelligent and articulate (unlike the ramblings of Craig T. Nelson I watched recently on YouTube).

Doesn't the GOP make any attempt to screen the psychos that speak at their events?

Don't they understand that every one of these unstable, fringe nuts-jobs makes them look that much more crazy and that much less appealing?

Do they even have the mental capacity to comprehend that they lost and why?

I believe the GOP has decided they have to change nothing. As events unfold in the next couple years, they will have ready followers.

Why can't the GOP find one relevant, semi-intelligent celebrity to represent their cause? Dennis Miller comes close at times, but after that, all they have are reality "stars", wash-ups, burnouts, and the semi-famous relatives of more successful celebrities (i.e. Chris farley's brother, Stephen Baldwin, and Jon Voight...actually all cited examples fall into more than one of the aforementioned categories).

Julius Caesar: naive, idealistic.
I did not know that...

Yeah, if I read history right (if not Shakespeare's version, anyway) it was Caesar's opposition which was naive and idealistic, determined that Caesar was a threat to their old-fashioned, noble, traditional (read conservative) senatorial style of government.

Julius Caesar was the ruthless, autocratic, militaristic dictator who held power through his control of a large army. Farthest thing from idealistic OR from Barack Obama that I can think of.

And who give a rat's butt for the opinion of a half-educated, emotionally challenged actor who apparently gets his history from dim memories of plays he was required to read in high school and doesn't seem to have remembered clearly anyway?

Socialism is way better than the capitalism we've come to know in this country. We left the country in the hands of private companies and in doing so, produced the likes of Madoff and Allen Stanford. In desperate times the government has to take the reins. Mr. Voight, if you do not like it you have enough money - leave.

"Mr. Voight, if you do not like it you have enough money - leave."

I'm sure that there are more than a few that would leave, if they could see a way to do it. I never thought that I would see my country in such disarray. Much of the world is moving on and leaving us behind, while we are wrapped up in our religion and all our hatefulness. There is so much collective energy wasted on self serving hatefulness in this country, that I don't see any direction but down for us.

I'm sure that many others in this world are having a jolly good time laughing at us.

Your country has been in disarray way before Obama took office. Now the man is trying to heal the wounds the Bush Administration has inflicted on us and yet still Republicans are playing obstructionists. I wish they all would leave, better for us and better for the planet.

NOTE TO THE WORLD: JOHN VOIGHT IS...AN ACTOR, PEOPLE! AN ACTOR! Who gives a sh*t what he has to say about anything? I'm so tired of celebrities thinking what they have to say about politics is so much more important than anyone else. And that goes for both sides.

Nothing against his being an actor. It is this man as a human that I have a problem with. Only A Republican would give any weight to a man who's own child hates him. You have to really screw up to lose the love of your child!

He can say whatever he wants to say. He may not know what the heck he is talking about But he pays his taxes like everyone else. The problem I am having here is with Bill O'Reilly and his hypocrisy on this whole issue.

Unfortunately, the two best things Mr. Voight has ever accomplished are his role in "Midnight Cowboy" and fathering Angelina Jolie! Perhaps he took his role in "Enemy Of The State" a little too seriously…
Does he have a new movie coming out where he plays another Right Wing nutcase and he's out pimping it?
Oh, yes, I forgot - our military forces aren't stretched thin enough - let's invade North Korea! Is Jon Voight going to enlist and fight the Yellow Peril?
