"Guantánamo's Hidden History: Shocking Statistics of Starvation" is a report I've compiled for Cageprisoners analyzing the weight records for prisoners at Guantánamo (released by the Pentagon in March 2007), which demonstrate that, from January 2002, when the prison opened, until February 2007, when these particular records came to an end, one in ten of the total population -- 80 prisoners in total -- weighed, at some point, less than 112 pounds (eight stone, or 50 kg), and 20 of these prisoners weighed less than 98 pounds (seven stone, or 44 kg).

Why would anyone assume that this is normal? If you are coming up with 'legitimate reasons' for this you have failed the critical thinking portion of this test.

It is called a hunger strike!!! The article even states that we force feed these individuals in attempt to keep them healthy. Where are all of the so called smart Dems that can comprehend what they read?

PS what did they weigh at the start of their confinement... or incarceration... and by the way... our prisoners ususlly come back, if they come back, weighing much less than at the beginning of their detainment...

they are probably all short and small stature.. besides which they don't like the food, don't like being detained and trying to make a statement... so maybe the bigguns' in the rest of the country may want to book a room... guaranteed to help them reduce and the US govt could charge...

Do you automatically assume these are all voluntary hunger strikers making a statement? You could be right. I don't know. Given what else Bush has done, I don't put starving prisoners past him.

WE, the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, did this to these people. How can we claim to have any moral high ground when we are down in the gutter too?

Just because we are the United States does NOT mean we can do whatever the heck we want to in the world. This arrogant attitude is the reason so many in the world dislike us now. Similar to combat fatigue that afflicts our service personnel due to constant stress!

It's not a prison, it's a legal limbo and torture chamber for people who haven't even been charged with a crime, let alone tried and convicted. It these men are all "the worst of the worst", how come more than 500 have been sent home without charges and they've only tried and convicted three?
