LOS ANGELES — MTV is electing Washington as the next location for "The Real World."

The cable network announced Wednesday that the 23rd season of the reality series would begin production in the nation's capital later this summer and premiere in 2010. Previous editions have focused on young strangers living together in front of cameras in such cities as New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Boston, London, Las Vegas, Paris and Austin, Texas.

Tony DiSanto, MTV's president of programming, said the network is "thrilled to be filming our classic franchise in the heart of where history is being made."

The Cancun-set 22nd season of "The Real World" premieres June 24.

Don't you know? in the REAL world everyone has perfect teeth, all the women are racked, all the guys have chiseled features, and fiery personalities go toe to toe with introspective semi-morons every day. And everyone lives in a $3 million condo.

we are doomed unless we cut this out of our culture. A realworldectomy. The problem is, it spread to our lungs. I'm sorry America, it's terminal. . .

Get a grip. I'll take a country with vacuous culture over oh I dunno, slavery, any day. It's not that bad.

Please stop bring these show to my hometown. DC has a hard enough time being respected for its great citizens and we do not need to be represented on National TV by people who most likely have lived in DC six months. Real DC native would most likely not be involved in these programs. People in DC young and old care very deeply about their reputation this is not a good look.

The producers of this dinosaur of a show are so blatantly determined not to have issues of race(especially Black/White issues) become part of the script that they long ago went to token casting of Black Folks.

They will have one Black kid, or two at the very most. The 'Chosen Black' will be either of mixed heritage or they will be Black but I guarantee he(probably she) will have very little connection or pride in their African American heritage.

It will be so funny and ridiculous to see 'THE REAL WORLD'(joke) in DC with a back drop of a Black Family in the White House that indicates America has dealt and is dealing successfully with issues of race and the producers of this show are still afraid of it because there is obviously no diversity at Bunim/Murray(producers)

At this point, I don't think that show wants ANYBODY who has a brain. But I see what you are saying, the black person should be gay or deaf or something--not mainstream.

How about "Real World Going AWAY"? I would enjoy that more than this show, which will be about as much fun as a root canal through the back of the head.

I always check out at least the first episode or two of each new season and lately they just haven't been good enough to keep me watching. They were much better in the early seasons, before people started going on there with the specific intent to become famous.

First of all, Puck wasn't on the first season. He was at least 3rd or 4th season. Second of all, if you're so ambivalent about the show, just don't watch it.

You got me there. Real World San Francisco was Season 3. But my comment was all in jest. Did not mean to hurt any feelings.

Yeah it's not the most relevant of shows out there, but I did like last season when they brought up transgender and Iraq veteran issues. I usually like watching it. At least they're not afraid of bringing up GBLT youth issues. Not many programs do that today. And if Joe and Jane six-pack watch it for the hook-ups, at least they're getting a little exposure to the issues. I'm not saying it's "Masterpiece Theater", but it's better than nothing The Real World/Road Rules challenges are a different matter, however.

Just put web cams in the Monkey House at the Washington Zoo. It's would be just as interesting and cheaper to produce.
