Asked if it's a good thing for former Vice President Cheney to be seen as the voice of the Republican Party, as recent polling indicates, Sanford said it probably isn't." He expressed a similar sentiment about conservative talk radio giant Rush Limbaugh.

And they think a beauty pageant winner who needed 6 years and 5 (community) colleges to get a 4 year journalism degree is smart enough to run America.

Eventually some reasonably intelligent republican will turn up. Watch out for Charlie Christ, he will proabably be the next Senator from Florida and he has been a good governor. I'm a Floridian...for better or worse...and I really appreciated the way he made them extend the hours for early voting last fall. His party had very limited hours here in Palm Beach Cty. and the lines were brutal. He ordered the hours extended which was very fair minded of him. He distanced himself from McCain-Palin and never did any posturing about stimulus money. All-in-all a very smart politico. I trust him as governor...but I think his moderation will move right once he gets into the Senate and the Senate is just his first step to the White House. Then there is Jebbie...or Bush III. Except for the Schiavo fiasco he was an excellent 2 term governor of Florida...although I still have my suspicions about the 2000 election...He's smarter than his brother and is playing it very low key right now...but watch out. I can only hope that we have Obama for 8 years...and then who? Who are our bright young stars? Do you get the impression that I worry about letting another republican live in the White House ever

Contrary to what he says, I believe he should just say "never" and save himself the expense and the indignity of a major embarrassment. It's not like the GOP will be running a giant political leader, but being trounced by a midget like Jindal or Pawlenty would make one suicidal.
