The US has destroyed its own credibility on this issue. Nobody is saying Venezuela's political system is in good shape - but the ban on aspartame is legit.

Pepsi One, Diet Rite and Diet RC are all sweetened with sucrelose (Splenda). That doesn't make them health foods, but at least they aren't neurotoxins like Rummy's aspertane sodas.

I agree with this ban. Not because Coke Zero is a danger to health, but because it's stupid. Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Diet Cherry Vanilla Coke, Diet Caffiene-free Coke. It's getting trickier to buy a soda than it is to order from a 93-page menu.

In Spain, Diet Coke is distributed as (translated) "Coke Light" and it tastes terrible. Venezuela could do the same with "Zero".
