Jeremiah Wright On Jews And Obama: "I Misspoke," Meant "Zionists"

Reverend Jeremiah Wright raised eyebrows yet again when he said he was no longer able to speak to President Obama because "them Jews aren't going to let him talk to me." On Sirius Radio's "Make it Plain with Mark Thompson" Thursday, he clarified.

"Let me just say, like Hillary, I misspoke. Let me just say Zionists," Wright said, before going on to delineate the difference between them and "responsible Jewish persons." He went on to discuss the Israeli government and the power of the Zionist lobby in the U.S. government, saying he was basing his words on the work of Jewish historian Marc Ellis.

Anybody that has ever REALLY listened to Rev. Wright's sermons (not just hand picked sound bites)... understands what he meant. Again... I do hope that Rev. Wright and President Obama can reconcile their relationship once President O's time in office is over.

I heard one of Wright's sermons played on the radio - uncut - and he means exactly what he said the first time around.

We all saw this coming - Obama spent 20 years in this guy's church, and you know what they say...

"Show me your friends (associates) and I'll show you your future"

We've been seeing that future with every apology tour, every move made by this fascist government, and we will continue to see this behavior until he is elected out of office in November 2012.

I totally agree. His sermons are powerful but he speaks the truth as far as I am concerned. The media chose to show his most provactive clips and paint him as a villan. They never once mentioned all the good that he has done for the community he lives in, to keep kids on the right path, to help the less fortunate and needs, and his service to his country in Vietnam. But then again those things wouldn't make a good headline, so why bother?

I don't think what Wright said was so off the mark. I think maybe Olbermann needs some education on how powerful AIPAC is in Washington, and to acknowledge how much Obama has ceded to the powerful big interests since he was inaugurated, much to my dismay. Wright doesn't edit himself, but he's not that far off the mark.

Wright might have some problems-I haven't read all about him, but the evidence of AIPAC's huge influence on our foreign policy via $$ through their PAC to is undenialble, if you'll do some research.

Vanessa Redgrave got the same kind of treatment when she denounced Zionists in Hollywood. To be Anti-Zionist is NOT racist, it's a political position against far-right Israel and their supporters who want to basically usurp all Palestinian land. There are plenty of moderate and liberal-to-progressive Jews in Israal and in the U.S. who disagree with Zionist's right-wing policies.

The Rev. was asked "Have you spoken to Pres. Obama?" He could have just said "No" and shut the hell up! All the rest was unnecessary and hateful. He may have been correct about AIPAC, Zionists, etc. However, the occasion called for a simple answer. There was no need, other than his desire to get attention, to go into such a diatribe. I agree with Olbermann: he deserved his designation as the worst. Didn't he see or hear about the tragedy at the Holocaust Museum 24 hours ago! Come on. He, better than most, should know the power of his words "life and death lies in the tongue" according to Proverbs. He's an intelligent, educated man. He should know when to speak, especially in public, and how to make a point without spewing vitriol.
